"The terror that walketh in darkness, here walks by day."
An old Scottish saying about Quiraing, on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. I think, seeing this image you can imagine why this place is full of dark legends.
For Rayvn, Sidhe RoseGraphics, whose last image featured the Ancient goddess of the fae folk, "Scathach" (or Scota- obvious derivative of Scotland). Rayvn mentioned that she lived in the Fortress of Shadows on the Isle of Skye, I think the Quiraing may be a candidate location for this mystical fortress, especially given local saying like the above that are attached to this haunting local.

Beautiful scene every shade of gray is present and I like the post work. I got to go my dog is pulling my shoelaces - the brat wants to go on a walk (he's an immature golden).
Very mysterious place, luv it... :) I would enjoy a time lapse movie of how this landscape was formed over the past few hundred million years.
Love your postwork on this one - the sweeping textures almost look like painted brushstrokes. In fact, this reminds me of a technique that some of the early Surrealist painters (Max Ernst, Oscar Dominguez & Remedios Varo are famous examples) used called decalcomania. They would spread gouache paint between two surfaces, pull them apart & then use that as an inspirational starting point for their fantastic landscapes. If you're not familiar with this & are curious, try doing a google image search on "decalcomania landscapes"...
Fabulous image...it looks so windswept, desolate and mostly barren. Easy to see why the place has the reputation it does. I would most certainly like to see more images of this place. Scathach's castle was Dunscaith, which was actually held by Clan MacCleod of Sleat. Makes me wonder if she was a MacCleod. The ruins are still standing. Nevertheless, I am totally fascinated with those outer islands and the things that have been found there. So...load on my dear and thank you so very much! :)
Roxy, you did a super job on this very cool dedication.
That looks really intense in black and white. Beautiful image. So many things to see lurking in the shadows.
GREAT photo very suggestive like in all your pictures. The B&W give a more bit of dramaticity.
Wonderful B&W landscape!
Amazing scene
Beautiful shot Roxy Spent a bit of time there when I was younger love this capture it has a kind of essence to it!!
This image totally rocks and it is a great dedication
This is so cinematic, Roxy - wow, you did an amazing job with this photo! I half expect to see a wraith or banshee lurking in the shadows.. A wonderful dedication for an awesome artist and friend. This brings to mind a chapter from LOTR called "Fog on the Barrow Downs" - this really has the look of a haunted and desolate land. I'd love to see more photos of this place.
Most excellent photograph and work!
Fantatic place and shot !
Absolutely stunning. It takes my breath away. The stark beauty of it is inspiring. I can imagine dark tales winding around this landscape.
