Description
OK - This isn't art. But I just thought I'd leave you with a chuckle before heading for bed....
As a background, since getting out of that rotating-shift hellhole in February, my new position has me working with another tech - Ron - servicing multi-function printers ( copier/printer/fax/scanner) at one of the top children's hospitals in the country here in Kansas City.
We have roughly 500 copier-printer-scanners in the entire system which includes several campuses around Kansas City, and in several other outlying areas as well.
Anyway..... Many times, when a service call comes in, it will be accompanied by a cryptic error code shown on the machine's LCD panel.
Friday afternoon a call came in with one of those error codes that neither Ron nor I had ever seen before. So we referenced the PDF Service Manual, typed the code into the search function and lo and behold..... The manual came up with this gem....
WHAT???????
Now you know why I have only 6 functional brain cells left.

Lol, possibly chinglish translation or just some place holder text, pretty funny though. Alienated :)
guess three of the brian cells is trying to jump start the other brian cells lol just a joke. hate the work when things go wrong.
I used to work on Nuclear submarines. Sorry but it looks pretty simple to me. The mechanism has a problem before scanning or reading the document. Welding probably means adjustment to the paper. The mechanism is not changing position as it is supposed to prior to starting the scan. It's either the motor, the sensor or the control board.
They need to have you rewrite those service manuals.... LOL We pretty much figured it out from the description below the chinlish description, and finding the position of the sensor in the parts manual. I just thought the description was funny. Actually, all it took was re-booting the machine...
This is probable one of those manuals from Shou ping that Ranpha has so much trouble with... Fun reading though...hope you got it fixed.
I knew there were aliens involved in these machines!! Gremlins would answer a lot of the problems. This is too funny!
I can see how your job would be very frustrating at times, Rod.
for a number of years I took care of money controllers, but luckily they would not tell the service tech what was wrong. for sure I would have totally lost in limbo
many times simply rebooting the device would take care of the issue
Oh, that's funny, Rod!!!!!
Service manuals can drive ya crazy,, I know your pain :-)
LOL! If it were me, and I saw that error message, I would say, "Shut it off and turn it back on again and see if it goes away." That's the limit of my technical knowledge, but hey ... it works WAY more than half the time! :P
Indeed - and it worked this time, too! :-D And as a bonus, I have a new technical term to dazzle people with: "alienation mechanism." I can now add that to my list along with kernoculator valve, forknab, dofunny, and thinga-ma-bob. LOL
Reminds me of airplane maintenance humor. Evidence of leak on right main landing gear/ Evidence removed. DME volume unbelievable loud/DME volume set to believable level. Target radar hums/Reprogrammed target radar with words. etc.
Re-booting is a wonderful thing. Lol. Glad it was a simple solution.
LOL, how funny! I remember once my ex bought a belt sander for his shop. The Chinglish Instructions actually read. 'Do not stand on the belt while running.' I thought it was funny. :)
These poorly functioning machines put us on edge with some stupiditées Especially an excuse to do nothing and we sweat Grrrrr ..... ((5 ++))
I read the circled line about ten times and my mental tongue just stumbled every time! yeah! there are times when just shutting it down and wait a minute or so and do a restart does wonders - especially for the blood pressure (notably high when the people who think they must have it working 10 minutes ago, are breathing down your back!)
I know that sometimes you need a manual on how to read a manual... :-D
this is high tech stuff ,only a few of the old spackovians can decrypt muahahahahaha.wise men indeed not the braindeads from todays world.
A head scratcher for sure mate, but I think it makes more sense than a few of the folks at my place!!
It probebly means in English.....'run out of paper!'.. I hate PC, H&S and rest of the non English plain talk.. Why can't they just say whay they mean.. Rob
