Of course Irises from our garden.
I hope their appearance will bring some joy to you.
btw: To Irises I have a very special memory:
Once when I was about 8 years old, and I walked alone through cornfields,
meadows and hollow, sandy tracks to school, I saw in the middle of a cornfield a large purple Iris.
I dug it out with my hands, and asked the teacher at school, if he wanted to save it for me, until the end of the day.
The whole day at school, I was constantly watching the Iris.
He lay on top of a high cabinet, at the front of the classroom.
At home I planted it in my own garden, aided by my father.
(As the only one of the children, I had a little private garden.)
One of our daughters, we have called "Iris".

What a fantastic story and gorgeous capture of this beautiful flower, Mies! If I had been the one in your story to find the Iris and take it to school, we would all have watched it die throughout the day! LOL I don't exactly have a green thumb, although our dear Dutch neighbor in Spaubeek tried his best to educate me during our three years there. Our tuin was very pretty, so he probably thought that he had succeeded, but the truth is that most of the success was due my wife's efforts. ;-)
