this winter went by
in a haze of winter-not-
winter-not-winter
travel south with the
seasons and winter becomes
something for others
to worry about
snow rain sleet and bitter wind
items in the news
still there were cold days
relatively speaking they
said quite seriously
as the temperature
dropped to almost-but-not-quite
freezing-oh-dear cold
those nice people from
michigan indiana
north south dakota
where the snow piles up
drifts in inches and feet high
while they are elsewhere
complaining about
weather too cold to lounge in
the warm swimming pool
winter is over
nearly everywhere these days
tornado season
has begun in the
heartland flatland corn wheat land
and we take shelter
tomorrow we head
north and west into summer
and the setting sun
.......................

Winter is finally over, but Lake Superior will remain partly frozen until June. Yep! This was an interesting year. Great piece of writing too: My attempt at meeting the challenge tacked itself onto the end of something else; and so it's a double pleasure to see a challenge piece that actually agreed to be a challenge piece, and it's so well done. It's funny, too, because I've been bitten by the prose poem bug. I went and dug up my well-read copy of Michael Ondaatje's short novel: The Collected Works of Billy the Kid...and I suspect that it'll have some tangential effect on the next few things that I write. That has nothing to do with what I just read here, but I there is a connection in the way you've compressed so much into so little space. This is so well done!

Ah, it is! We're almost done with April - the mornings are still crisp... But the snow is gone. A lovely bit of prose, Tara! What a delight for the last work I see before retiring, and getting ready for a new week. Delightful ArtRage work, too!
NIce to see these great words from you; and these are just perfect---who doesn't love the end of winter? And you've been all over, seeing winter is so many different ways---and missed all the nasty stuff!!
We are suppose to get temps in the mid 80's by mid week - I'll believe that when it happens Great poem ps it is still cool here in SW Washington

We had drought all through the winter months so now that summer is almost here we are getting some rain. Go figure. A real nice piece of writing. I bever thought if it before but you and Bill have become Snowbirds in a mobile home.
