Another glimpse into Spring Hill, the farm/ranch house at the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve just outside of Strong City, Kansas.

Root cellar, protection from tornados or foes. Many different uses. I've seen quite a few in Sweden, shaped in many various ways. This one is very well constructed with fitted stones, suggesting more than just food storage. Considering how cramped these usually are, and the extremely contrasting lighting, this is a very well made photo. Keep up the good work! :-)
Ah yes, I recall this place. It was and is all about light and shadows. And being that this is in an 1880s house in Kansas, I am sure this was first a root cellar but secondly a tornado shelter. This photo speaks to strength and coolness to me. Well done:)

Great study of light & shadow. There seems to be a spirit hidden in the back wall - odd grayish-green shapes emerging out of the pink. While it's perfect exactly as it is, I would be unable to resist seeing this as a stage set, waiting to be populated by actors from my imagination...
I can just imagine keeping potatoes in there. Probably very cool.

You've always handled light in dark with mastery, and this is another example. (And it's on your old T3i too!) It tells us of the room almost by absence as well as by presence, and the light is just enough to sketch out all that we don't see. With Andrea, there are dreams here. And you gave us the pots just light-enough to suggest life down there; and the openings on the top are hidden but visible all the same, and shedding light. A shot of deep cavernous dark and beautiful subdued light. Sterling work with a tough subject, and dank, deep and feeling very protective. You really do light and shadow beautifully. Very powerful.
