Description
This is a wood stork that just stood there and posed for me. They are about 40 inches (102 cm) tall and with an impressive wing span of 61 inches (155 cm). They do have black flight feathers on the wing tips and tail. The hunchback pose is normal this is an adult because of the blackish gray head that looks like leather. Juveniles have gray feathered heads. Taken on the boardwalk in the Wakodahatchee Wetlands, just west of Delray Beach, Florida.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favorites and comments. They are very much appreciated.

What an excellent shot! These are almost prehistoric looking!
Beautiful,
maybe the first time to see one. very beautiful bird and photo
so ugly it's cute Great capture Dana
Great capture – the bird appears more sturdy than the heron.
A strange looking bird, nice shot.
never saw one of these. cool shot
The Wakodahatchee Wetlands? I've just HAD to practise saying that!
Hey Andrew! The name, Wakodahatchee, has an interesting history. It is derived from the Seminole Indian Language and translates as "created waters." The created waters at Wakodahatchee Wetlands are an example of people giving something back to nature. Fifty acres of unused utilities land have been transformed into a wetlands ecosystem.

An excellent picture Dana and a first for me!
A great shot! It looks like a little arthritis settling into those knees, LOL!
impressive specimen with a most beautiful featherdress! ;o)
Wonderful series of bird captures, dear Dana. This is wonderful. Hugs for all day. Di. xx
Wonderful capture of this stork, bravo, Dana !
Thanks for sharing this fine feathered friend with us. You have really got a great capture here. I love the way you can see the soft details of the feathers.
perfectly captured
He is so beautifully white!! xx
I can see some of the black under its white plumage, how wonderful it stayed and posed, Great shot Dana
My advice.... rule of composition Dana.... place subjects like this off center and allow more space to front. You do not want to place in middle if at all possible... again, more space in direction subject is facing. Just passing along info that I think has helped me. Still, a great photo.
Someone was having a laugh when they designed this one such lovely white feathers and then those legs and that head, nice shot though.
Marvelous picture and very beautiful bird... Outstandingly captured ! Image merveilleuse et très bel oiseau ... Remarquablement capturé!
Avery fine capture of this bird! :o)
Beautiful picture Dana. Love the one with the snake. We have a lot of corals up here in north Fl so I was very intrigued to see the king colors. Hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Healthy New Year. I think we are about to get back to a normal life around here again. Feels good.
Nice detail & sharpness. I've never seen a stork in person, so this will have to do as the next best thing...
fantastic portait
WONDERFUL WORK!
