This is a Grumman F6F Hellcat used by both the US Navy and the British Royal Navy during World War II aircraft carrier operations.
This one has been restored during the past couple of years and has just come back from the paint shop where it has just received its white markings.
It is scheduled to be flown for the first time since restoration this coming July.
The base color is called Glossy Sea Blue.

What a gorgeous shine. That camera of yours and your good self are going to make a fine team.
A lovely shot and a great POV Bill. You are both doing a bit of reflecting today!!
Very cool capture Bill I think I built a model of this plane, waaaaaaay back when I was young...
Need to get one of these camera's-Beautiful quality indeed
WOW! I could reflect on this shot for some time, the detail is amazing shooting at 1/100 s! You realize now that people will forever say "Oh, you must have a good camera!" LOL
This is just gorgeous, Bill!
WOnderful capture and very very great work !!!
A Braille aircraft... the surface detail is extraordinary... a lot of welds!
It's so clean and shiny! Fantastic clarity and detail, well done!
LOVE all the reflections! Beautiful!
Beautiful reflections :)
terrific composition
The reflection is amazing, so shiny, very well looked after!!
Amazing capture Bill. God Bless.
Great POV employed to capture the glint-off-metal effects in this marvo shot of the Grumman F9F Hellcat, Bill. I watched the Vietnamese war drama, Casualties of War, the other night, and was wondering if you ever saw it. Credits said it was based on a true incident.
wonderful work
AMAZING IMAGE!
Stunning Bill, clarity and detail are excellent, it seems to me that, besides some very cool subject matter, Mr Allen also provides a LOT of light....quite a contrast from the usual dimly lit museums......
very slick paint job and I like your pov
great backlight and reflections on the surfaces! also love the tones
Someones been busy with the polish! Stunning capture Bill.
Great angle of this beauty Bill. Love the reflections. Between you and Tara you might want to approach the owner of the Museum for some compensation for all the advertising you do for them. Great shot!
Lovely image :)
Dang.... When I saw the title I thought maybe you were referring to my job.... LOL! A wonderful shot with all the light and reflections! I'm so far behind I've probably missed Tara's post but I'll go check it out now..
Such a great POV !
great job working with all the reflections, not always an easy task.
Nice shot Bill.. A super, well lit shot indeed! There is one at Duxford and fingers crossed it should be flying again, along with the Wildcat this year! Health and Safety said no you can't fly them.. Asses! Excellent Bill.. Rob
Amazing lighting and reflections.
