Description
I guess I'm in a movie mood. This is based on Jim Henson's Labyrinth.
Vue D'Esprit 4.1/Photoshop 6
This is really a mixed medium picture. The labyrinth and background were created in Vue. I used a black and white maze as a terrain and then turned it upside down. The owl is painted from scratch in Photoshop 6 using a reference from one of the Labyrinth posters, but as always it was not traced or painted over. Postwork was also done in Photoshop.

Thanks for looking... Credits: Image created by ShadowWind based on a poster for Jim Henson's Labyrinth Castle by Helmut Schwab, textured in Vue

Looks nice ...but where is the goblin city ?? :)
Very nic pic, especially the painted owl earns my respect! :)
I wanted the picture to just be a hint of the film, rather than a recreation of the poster, and in that quest, left out the goblin city...Sorry...
very interesting, SW! Thank you for the hint in IM... a brilliant work, indeed!
really nice image. concpet and colors are just great!!
great depth..i like the owl too.. i too was looking for goblin city :)>>>yep its a good un
I like the background effects. This is really good.
really cool, great perspective
Personally - your skills and abilities to capture such exquisite renditions from both TV series and Films is highly commendable my friend, and almost criminal that your work isn't being featured by the shows and studios who create the originals. Your work could easily grace any advertising poster that Hollywood produces to promote their celluloid and taped offerings. This time - I'm happy to say I have seen Labyrinth - but of course that was many years ago. This render and sophisticated painting is filled with charm, excellent colors and magical style - bravo Shadow - BRAVO!!!
I love this piece. Thanks for sharing your technique in making a labyrinth.
Shadow, this is beautiful work. Wonderful technique and tallent is on display here and Jason summed it up well. Thank you for sharing this with us, I enjoyed it. ---- Scott.
Very Interesting. Owl and castle are great.
Ohh This would make a wonderful bookcover! Excellent work! - deemarie (ladynimue)

Beautiful effect. Nice work.
Wow, beautiful image. I know the gLabyrinthh. Combination of owl and dark forest is usual scene but this is another nice idea. I like to see the next scene. Shorter width of display as this image is good idea for express of depth. Thank you friend. I like your images. ...........Excellent.
Cool pic Shadow...Congrats. ---Kostas.
It's beautiful - definitely a storybook image :)
Beautiful image ! I like the castle in the background, the sky and the bird !
wow Shadow, nice render :) I'm still trying to understand how you made the terrain...lol Was the blurry background effect done in post-production?
oh shad i really love this one as that is one of my fav movies ever ! wonderful job!
that is so cool, i really love any owl, but the ochre colors and depth of field make this one magical. bravo!
Exceptional work, ShadowWind. The technical skills that went into creating this image are formidable, both as a digital and as a traditional media artist. But, what I respect most about this particular image is the creative vision behind it. Terrific work!
Awesome! This should be a cover for something, a movie poster or book. Nevermind the movie this is wonderful. The maze down there is really austonding! Thanks for letting me see this one. It really is wonderful.
a true inspired work :) The orange fits all so well too, and the background is awesome :)
