WOW! When all is said and done, they simply stapled it! I love the idea that you can staple more than just paper! The textures are super and I love the play of light and shadow. Unfortunately, my only memories of the I & M Canal come from the occasional dental-equipment deliveries made in towns within hailing distance of that canal. I like your take on it much better! I like the dead nails too. I learned from a former landlord that the term "dead as a doornail" comes from nails that have been hammered into place, half way, and then bent. If they're above a door, usually holding door frame thingies in place, they were bent so that they crossed each other forming either an "x" or a "t" shape and when they were that way (as door-nails) then they were "dead" door-nails. I wonder what particular saying bent...um...canal nails might inspire? And yeah, I can't believe it's been nearly a year! But I can also say that I've developed quite a taste for pecan sandies, diet Coke, and grapes...usually while fiddling with photo stuff. Gee, I wonder where that habit developed?

Wonderful warm tones in the stone - great textures, too - lovely shot, Tara! It certainly makes one wonder how those 'ancient' stonemasons did such precise work they didn't need metal 'staples' to hold things in place.

Looks like it might be a losing battle. This image is full of character. Wonderful textures. The whole thing speaks of age and decay and yet it endures.

Intimidating effect I mean that in a good way! The textures are really unique and interesting but what sets it apart is the camera angle. It feels like the structure is looming down on you.

Wonderful weathered texture. Sun, rain, snow and ice have their way of wearing away the staunchest of old stones. Fascinating presentation:)
