5,500 feet elevation
It was 80 degrees Fahrenheit, even at that elevation, the day we were there last week. Down in Winthrop it was 92F.
Winter snow depth here can easily be nine or ten feet.

Good one, Mike! This reminded me of the twisted pose some models assume. There is even a belly button near the bottom. The markings are unusual. Terrific composition and light. The greens and blues are fantastic.

This is incredible in so many ways! I love the spiral shape and I wonder if it came about as a marker of the way the tree grew, back when it was still doing that being alive thing that trees do so well. The silvery weather-wear is marvelous and the POV is magnificent. Ah...and temperatures in the 80s are a good thing, but too much above that and things get hinky!
