Description
Spirit Birds
You come to me
From places unknown
Showing me I am not alone
Carrying your message
From somewhere high above
On magnificent wings of healing, hope, and love.
Eagle Spirit - symbol of power, courage and rebirth. You are the divine connection between creation and earth, carrying me to new heights of renewal and self-worth.
Hawk Spirit - symbol of intuition and insight, teaching me to trust my instinct, to know what is right, to be grateful for my talents and gifts and grow in the light
Falcon Spirit - symbol of possibilities and vision, you are my light that shines in the darkness, helping me see and realize my own dreams.
Osprey Spirit - symbol of healing energies and harmony, teaching me how to take care of and nurture myself, to embrace new opportunities and others with an open heart.
Raven Spirit - symbol of protection and renewal, warning me when danger is near and soothing my fear, teaching me that death, destruction, and darkness are not the end, but the beginning of rebirth, re-building, and new life
Owl Spirit - symbol of prophecy and wisdom, teaching me to see and understand what may be hidden, showing me how to embrace the changes that are to come.
Spirit Birds prose by Carol Cavalaris ©
Special thanks to Ilona for her beautiful falcon, raven, and owl photos and modified eagle from Danob.
Each year I create something to honor the passing of my husband and soul mate, LJ., as well as my own journey. I have been traveling my path of grief and healing for six years now, flying low and high along the way. Over the years, each of these spirit birds has appeared to me in some way, physically coming into my world, invading my dreams, making themselves visible in symbols, all undeniable. And when my heart is open to their message, they bring me courage, strength, hope, awareness, and even joy.
And so I dedicate this image to my beloved, LJ, for all the years we flew high and low as a couple, and to the power and beauty of these Spirit Birds and to the message they bring.
Hope you enjoy. And a Happy Father's Day to all the dads.

I think it's great how each bird has it's own special place within you and your fond memories of LJ...we all miss him, but I can't believe how strong you have been, through the ups and downs and it's a real inspiration to others who have lost some one precious to them ! Stay strong and keep up the great work Carol ! ~Cheers~
Superb, excellent work!!
awesome work.....you are very talented, and a wonderful thought behind this.....well done Carol
Outstanding work. God Bless.
a touching image to your long and great love, and to all the journeys you went through for it. And what you've done with all these birds---I don't know if I can describe it, but they all seem to be part of a larger ocean of energies and powers. All their varying coats and textures and lights and patterns make this really moving confluence of energies, like they're united in a much larger Whole. They're in a huge 'dance' together, they meld. And your choice of beautiful wood---like a driftwood sacred-circle---unifies them all, even harmonizing with their hues, textures, etc. Your dreamcatcher is like a web, with that beautiful 'mandala' in the center (made of feathers). It's so opulent, Carol. And above it, the eagle...overseeing everyone, defining the entire piece. I don't want to forget your backgrounds...your background has your typically light-filled energies, morphing back there like silks...and the ground is as much spirits and mists as it is soil, which---as in many of your animal images---feels like the fundament of the soul and heart, swirling beneath it all. It's a cornucopia (literally a horn of plenty, "copious horn," which, in myth, is supposed to bring one what one wishes), and it's made of beautiful wood which seems to snake out of the bowels of the earth...You've celebrated a long, deep relationship with a confluence of spirits and creatures, with a primal circle and sky, all resting on pure fundamental energies. I can't think of a better vision for LJ and for love: Because, in bringing all this power into one place, you're showing what's huger and more universal than any loss could be. That isn't an easy 'comfort', nor a glib 'out': It's just a truth. Because we work through pain here on earth, but love's depth is so huge, we're constantly reminded of something much bigger than ourselves. And that's what I feel in this image---something bigger than ourselves and than our pain. I hope you feel that too; you sure communicate it in this image. A beautiful tribute to LJ, to love, and to the mystery of 'messengers' around us. And to fathers everywhere too. Beautiful, and very touching.
It is truly beautiful Carol, a wonderful tribute to LJ. I still think of you as being one of the lucky ones. The two of you had something rare, powerful and real, and not many people can say they ever had that.
This is a magnificent tribute! Such inspiring words!
