This is so frikkin' cool! There was a tv-miniseries in the 1970s: a kinda hokey version of Ray Bradbury's Martian Chronicles, with such stars as Rock Hudston, Bernadette Peters, O.J. Simpson, and some other terribly famous people, and quite a few others. I only remember it because of the Martians. They were your typical Hollywood actors, wearing pseudo-toga sorts of flowing things (always in white) and they wore metal colored contact lenses...that breed of Hollywood reference to "Tall They Were, and Golden Eyed," which was the title to one of Bradbury's Martian short stories. Anyway, I thought of that because of the architecture. The Martians lived in a nicely abstract desert community: lots of nicely sculpted stone, everywhere. Everything looked so wonderfully mysterious. This made me think of that in all of the best ways, and I can easily see this as a snapshot of what's left of Bradbury's Mars. There's such a delicious, haunting quality to this image and it makes my mind spin off in all of those "potential story" directions my mind spins off on. I love the textures and the light/shadow interplay. This is really superb! It's funny, too, because it also reminds me of Ůtef, or maybe the ruins of its precursor city...only without onion-worshiping people walking around and doing the sorts of things that members of that desert society would be doing. I love it when an image sparks stuff like that! Inspiration is hard to come by, but I always manage to find it in your gallery, which is always a good thing! This is marvelous!
