Description
This is the Zeila - a ship that was towed in 2008 and then broke lose in a storm and ended up almost on the beach between Swakopmund and Henties Bay on the Namibian coast. I have been watching her deteriorating since 2009. She is all rusted up but still clinging on to her dignity. I cannot help but wonder if she will still be in one piece next year this time when I go again. I've got more images of her that I will post later.
Thank you for popping in and for your welcome comments and favs on my last upload "Reality".

Its time for her give up the ghost and move on. Nice photo.
Superb capture Carin. God Bless.
Excellent capture. She'll make a good home for the fishes. :)
Nice capture!
Lovely cappture, I hope she is still there!! xx
A sad end!
Excellent capture! :)
Excellent capture! I'm sure it's becoming a home to wild life. :)
The old ship makes a lovely perch for all those cormorants Carin.
Nice shot and at least the birds seem to be making use of it.
I love the composition of this Cormorant roost! Stunning, Clive
EXCELLENT IMAGE!
It is quite scenic with all the birds; did you get any closer shots of them? The ship looks like it must have been pretty well-built to last this long under these conditions!
Great Scott, almost, but not quite, the Wreck of the Mary Deare, in this awesome capture, Carin! I was wondering if you had gotten so close that you might have tried to board it for some cool shots of the rusted remains. Actually, you wouldn't even have to go onboard; just stand on the beach next to it and snap some pics of not only the vessel but also the huge waves battering it.
OMG! makes a great pic tho!!!
So interesting to see it year after year. There was a wreck out at the beach when I was a child, and I found it fascinating! There was a way to get on it, which we did, and the tilted deck was such fun. :) I guess you'll have to keep going back. :P
One of those sight's which you could stand and look at all day long.great capture
Fantastic capture.
Great shot, and a record of the slow death of this vessel.. A few more years and it will fall apart, I hope they drained the oil tanks of fuel Carin, or there will be a real mess everywhere! Good shot! Rob
It is sad, that such a ship just cant be helped... and now its too late. Excellent capture though.
Wonderful capture of this fading beauty. Cannot wait the other pics you mentioned.
The Skeleton Coast has its own special ways of welcoming mariners...seems like I read that somewhere;-) Very intriguing view perfectly composed.
Excellent and very interesting shot. Thanks for sharing.
So special to see this, dear Carin. It looks like the birds are happy with it, and enjoy their holiday on top of it.
Excellent capture, Carin!
Only the birds use her now! Nice shot!
you'll get a few more years out of it yet Carin and it will get more and more interesting :)
Am sure someone could make money from salvaging this if they put their mind to it!
Wow this is an awesome photo also hon great piece of work on it.
Looks like the avian natives have started making use of it already!
