Description
Took a hike yesterday from Hawaii National Park thru the harsh lava terrain 5.5 miles one way in the dark early morning. It took 3 hours so I was a little late. Above where the white smoke is was "Jack Thompson’s" House.....now gone. He was evacuated March 2 Friday while lava was within a 100 ft. from his back door. He had live there in Royal Gardens subdivision for about 30 years. He is a legend in Hawaii. Sad to see his house gone. Aloha and thank you for viewing...

Some of us...photographers kept away at an emotional time while others wants news for their profits. There were several people before this who's homes had burned down from the lava had kicked out these photographers from their property to prevented filming them at an emotional time. Aloha

So sad to see this happening but here where i live we either have floods or tornado's that wipe us out.

Perseverance and stubbornness probably kept him there so long along with love. He had an awesome view from his home. Now he can go on to the next chapter in his life knowing he did his best. Thanks for your update, that's quite a hike, plenty of time for reflection to and fro, eh?

Very sad to see someone's entire property go up in flames. I guess in the end we don't own anything, it all belomgs to Mother Nature. Great capture!!
