Description
...loved the late afternoon light on this handsome tree in Everett, Washington's Evergreen Cemetery.
...a lot of googling and picking around in The Audubon Society's Field Guide to North American Trees failed to provide a positive identity...the bark leads me to think this is some variety of cedar...but we'll have to go back to look more closely at the needles/leaves...with Field Guide in hand:)
...If anybody knows, please let us know what you think.

What a tree... and I would say cedar too. Saw a list of these sites the other day. leafsnap.com ArborDay.org What tree is that? Maybe one of them would help.
I know it is a great photo Bill, and also a massive and beautiful tree!
Gee I am really NO expert on trees. But I agree it is beautiful Bill and shot very well.
a super tree...
Stunning capture Bill. The lighting is perfect on the tree. God Bless.
Lovely tree and shot Bill. It looks to me like a Douglas fir, if it is it will have soft bark and would be very tall. The reason for soft bark is that if it suffered a lightning strike the bark would strip thereby saving the tree.
A real old timer..I love it. I should need to see the needles/overall shape/cones to be certain of the name
Standing proud after many many year's and people are still wondering about it-That say's something in itself... A beautiful tree with a terrific capture behind it...
Makes for a very beautiful pic.
Excellent detail of the bark. I like the contrast of colors.
That's an impressive tree indeed! A JOY to see!!!!! I would guess its a Fir of some kind, I'm more than likely wrong but lol If that was in the UK, it would have been hacked down by now on Health and Safety grounds.... and no, I'm not joking... Sad isn't it.. Rob
Very nice capture let us know when you find out
Wow, amazing golden light and a masterful capture, Bill. I don't know what it is, but I think it's what I have in my back yard.
Awesome and majestic!
Looks like a cedar to me. Yes, very majestic.
Great shot. The lighting is superb. I don't know what kind of tree it is but it is spectacular in this image.
I love that tree trunk, beautiful tree!!!
Looks like a ponderosa Pine, but nor really sure. Beautiful capture Bill
WHat a fantastic tree. Looks absolutely wonderful.
Magical!
Delightful find. :) perfect POV
Gorgeous light! This is just outstanding. I believe this is the highest point in the cemetery. It should be easy to find again! :)
Gorgeous color, contrast, lighting and textural effects, Bill. Stellar shot of this tree, possibly a giant redwood that didn't want to make the effort of growing any taller.
my brother told me what these trees are that was in Denver. i forgot what he say lol
what a handsome tree this is, to big to hug but not to big to admire
Beautiful work Bill!
Yay caught up with my ebots. LOL one goal for the day off list lol I am presently reading Robinson Crusoe, and wow a blanket a big mug of tea and my book and that tree is all mine. Great photo!
amazing image
Oh, man! What a tree! That's just lovely, Bill! When I saw this, it reminded me of the giant tree-village of the Na'vi in the Avatar movie. The angle on this make this tree look absolutely massive - a real beauty!
I love how you have caught the light here and it really is a massive trunk. A bit big to give a hug to, but it looks as though it has seen a lot of life.
