Description
Separation, Ascent and a Payload Revealed
With its fuel exhausted Hercules makes its slow fall back toward the Earth far below leaving the Cocoon Cargo Carriers inertia to carry it into low Earth orbit. Once in orbit a series of explosive bolts fire to separate the base, nose and two side elements of the cargo carrier from its internal payload. Revealed at last is the cargo carriers payload, the first element of the Von Braun Space Platform (VBSP-1).
Whilst not huge in size and weight this first element at just under 30 feet wide and nearly 60 feet long contains the Control Monitoring Station or CMS along with its linking module to which are attached a series of four remote docking ports and one standard docking port.
