Description
After successfully capturing the first element of the VBSP-1, the Orbital Shuttle Atlantis transfers the unit to a location exactly five miles away from its older and larger bother in space, the International Space Station.
Once safely at its on-station orbital location Atlantis will release its payload and use the lower standard docking port to dock with the miniature space station. Once docking is successfully completed astronauts from Atlantis wearing EVA suits will enter the station to ensure that it has made the safe journey into space before pressurising it so that additional tests can be carried out on its many and varied systems and sub-systems including its externally placed mini-camera array and the series of manoeuvring thrusters which are dotted all round the external surface of the station to be used to keep the VBSP-1 on-station at all times.
Also tested will be the externally mounted tracking array which will be used to give a 360 degree by 360 degree constant picture of the space around the station as well as tracking any objects which are approaching it.
