Description
This 1000-ft run is so fast that I had to push the shutter button on my little Canon the moment the light turned green because of a slight delay for the camera to react to the shutter, to catch these two in the picture.
The picture was taken at 12:28, in the middle of the day during bright sunshine, yet the exhaust flames are visible. The exhaust temperature at idle is 500F (260C) and at the end of the ~4 second run it is 1796F (960C).
During a typical run the engine can consume as much as 103 litres (22.75 Gal US) of fuel for the warm up, burnout, staging and a 1/4 mile run.
