Description
Found this very large stuffed bear in the same window as the goats of my last post. He was very impressive to me!
...gave me pause to ponder the whole business of stuffing animals for display.
...no conclusions, no axes to grind...but after the original owners have passed away, where is the market for old stuffed goats and bears???

Hmmmmmmmm. When I opened this, after jumping back EVER so slightly, my first thought was:"Very, VERY large dog eats Toyota Prius." Then I noticed it was a bear and though: "Large bear, thin glass, sudden unintentional bowel movement." Then you told me it was stuffed. Then I thought about Tony Perkins in "Psycho." There's something kind of CREEPY about stuffing dead things. I've always sort of WONDERED about people into this rather curious hobby... Anyway, this is a great, arresting shot.
like very much stare smiles warm hugs, Linda
Great capture here And their is a taxidermist here in town where I live His display is at City Hall...some look so neat....other's down right spooky Would make me sleep with one eye open LOL: missed this one somehow:( Again...great pic ya got here Hugs Susan~
Now there's something I don't see every day, though I hear in the city of Irkutsk, you might still have a problem with bears rummaging through dumpsters, thus there are bear warnings posted all around the city, more toward the outskirts, I'd assume... ...What an unexpected shot! Stuffed or not, this is quite a formidable creature, and it reminds me of a lot of the bear-references I've heard and read in the past, including a rather funny line in an Ursula K. LeGuin story: "Porridge on Islac" which can be found in the collection: Changing Planes. Rather briefly, the narrator of the story simply declares: "I thought they must have rather odd bears on Islac." And needless to say, THAT line popped into my head, immediately. I love it when a great photograph triggers the recall of a great story. And what a shot this is. I love the teeth and the reflections and the incongruity of that: bear teeth and reflections? Now there's a relationship you don't consider every day! What a shot!
Oh my! What big teeth you have. A fearsome predator. Great shot.
wonder who's shopping, the bear or the photographer?:-))
