What I see in this old stump?
the exposed root.
Hitting the eye to heaven:
"whence comes my help"?
Is it a scream
as in a bad dream
out in silence and solitude,
completely lost in the woods?
Searching for redemption
for freedom from its ancient
roots,
so stressful pressing on?
Looking down at her, or his
wrested,
uprooted herself to this?
Oh Mies, you're doing too dramatic
it's just a stray fish!
You know the painting "The Scream".
a cry of every century
portrayed by so many
in such different ways
as often released
in an abandoned
loneliness
of feeling.

There are so many things this could be Mies, it could even be an octopus. Whatever it is it's a brilliant shot.

Great shot of this impressive roots. Fantastic POV.
I see a hollow eye raised to the heavens and a grimace of pain. It has an expression of hopelessness and long endured misery. Excellent image and poem! I love your use of the word roots. Roots that connect the stump to the ground and connect us to the past, to present miseries, to anything that weighs down our spirit. And when the spirit is low, loneliness is sure to be knocking at the door and entering in.
