Description
For the last couple of days, Tara and I have posted pictures taken at the Edmonds Marina.
Recall the titles, "Hoist", "Above and...", "...and Below"?
Here are the boats racked and stacked for the winter...some are actually stacked three high beyond these frames. Needless to say, it takes a tall fork lift and well trained operators to pluck these out of the water, store them and flop them back in...:)

This would not be the time to remember that you left something on board.... Great capture
Nice shot Bill, my brother had his boat in storage like this here in NZ.. He said it was amazing to watch them stacking them!
Apt name for the fork lift - Neptune! Not something that I have seen around here before... Thanks, Clive
Wow thats new to me. I guess the weather is always so boringly mild here that they stay out all year!
I so thought this was going to be stacks of firewood---silly me!!
Lovely clear shot Bill.
Cool picture!!
ready for action
What a great way of stacking the boats for the winter. I havent seen it done like that in DK ! Excellent capture :-)
Like Marylin I was expecting logs..LOADS of dosh piled up here.
Great idea, to show us the forklift as well. Nice presentation! I alternate between thinking this isn't worth taking pictures of, and snapping away like a madwoman. Glad you posted this ... now I can stop worrying about whether or not people would like to see it! LOL!
Have you seen the BIG racks of them at the marine on Lake Union? I think theirs go five or six high, and L-O-N-G ... It amazes me to see them piled up like toys on a shelf like this, but I guess that's what they are, right? Fantastic shot, I love the diptych with the forklift!
Didn't realise they did that!!!
terrific shot
SUPERLATIVE CAPTURE
Tons of clarity, detail, textures and variety in this cool collage, Bill.
Things look pretty well stacked all right! Cool photo, Bill! That forklift looks like the same kind they use for lifting cargo containers.
Nice shot, great lighting, and the addition of the forklift adds to the depth of field and gives a nice bit of added info. This reminds me of Belmont Harbor Yacht Basin here in Chicago, where the tycoons play. And stack their toys. Great shot.
Awesome capture Hugs Susan~
It looks like someone has an never ending job there... Great shot.
A wonderful capture of these stacked boats. I was amazed when I was in Perth Australia to see them doing this too. Imagine the amount of money tied up here.
The best thing about stacked boats is watching them come unstacked in spring, when the water is no longer wearing a coat of ice like really dangerous pond scum. The hoists and forklifts and other odd bits of equipment make the best sounds and I love the idea of boats existing, for a moment, in airborne positions. This is a gorgeous shot and I love the quality of light and detail. Thankfully spring is coming--soon, or so I hear--and so maybe I'll get to see boats loaded back into the waters of Lake Michigan, just as soon as the natural ice sculptures melt. This is superb.
"Hang on a minute...when I applied for the job of 'shelf stacker', this was not in the ad..." Great shot Bill, very interesting...now, if we can just jack up the racks, slide in a few bogies..we could have grand theft on a grand scale..:-)
Interesting capture Bill!
