Description
...Turkish cargo ship, Tarik 3, departing Puget Sound on February 6th, 2011 for China.
...knew when I saw this passing by that it was a long one. 594 feet [181 meters]
...took this picture with my rarely used 50-200mm zoom lens. Think I'll be using it a lot more in the future:)

Great capture of this ship, very well done.. Top shot Bill..
WOW! THat is a LONG ship indeed. Beautiful capture.
Cool capture!!
Something we do not see here in Cape Town - lots of container ships though. Great perspective on the surroundings, Clive
GREAT SCOTT! HUGE! A very good pic.. I don't think I could hold my telephoto still any more.
Good capture, Bill. She looks laden: wonder what she's carrying.
Why is your 50-200 rarely used Bill?
good result
interesting capture and work
belle vue
Yep! That's a long ship indeed! Turkish Cargo ship, going to China.. from Washington area! There's a mix! lol Cool shot.. Well done Bill.. Rob
Wonderful capture, Bill
Wow! That's a great capture, fantastic detail!
Wow, is that a ship & a half, great capture!!!
Another interesting ship photo. The cranes look dreadfully tall. I wonder what the visibility is from the bridge. She's heavy laden, but with what? The Chinese are buying up raw materials like mad, oil and coal, gold, silver, titanium, etc...too. Seems it could be some kind of ore. As for the 50 - 200 zoom, I understand. One gets used to another lens and almost forgets to use the others in one's possession. It's that way between my digital camera, and my old Olympus OM2, which rarely gets used. Costs a lot with film, and the waiting time for development. But, I have good lenses (28 - 80, 80 - 200 with screw-on macro lens). Wish I could use them on a digital camera, but, no, won't work. Good shot! Keep up the good work! :-)
That is a lot of steel that has to float on the water! Boggles the mind! Great shot Bill and I am thoroughly enjoying my 200mm lens!
wow, what a ship! great and interesting picture with zoom!
Great image Happy Valentines Day Hugs Susan~
excellent shot
Amazing photo of this ship, Bill! I can't quite make it out, but it looks like she has a deck full of containers - and jugeing by that, she is immense! I love a good telephoto lens! I have a 100 - 300mm for my Digital Rebel (left over from my old EOS650 back in my film days). I have an 800mm with an old Minolta mount - wish I could come up with an adapter so I could use it with my Canon - I'd have to use manual focus and all, but that would be no problem! Excellent photo, my friend!
Excellent capture! Don't let a good lens go to waste Bill. ;)
That is one BIG ship!!
I really do like this shot. There's something exciting about it! The composition is excellent, but I think it's the fact that the ship is from a far-off place and it going to still another far-off place, and it's just cool. :)
China bound? Bill, did you know it by the hieroglyph from the funnel? very good result with max zoom.
Very good image...
