It had been three days hard travel, but Anna's small band had finally made it to the site of her vision quest. As Callum had foretold, the site appeared to be perfect. It sat on the edge of low cliff overlooking a sweeping vista; it was also endowed with a few gnarled old trees clinging to life. Here was a place where both nature and spirituality seemed to be coming to an end, worn down by the winds of time.
And so this place, seemingly at the end of the world, at the end of time, seemed a fitting place to vision a new start. Here the cycle of time was coming full circle, the old was ending and for Anna there would be a new beginning. This was truly a place to connect with the ancestors; the site fairly reeked with power. Anna felt blessed that Callum had chosen this spot for her.
But regardless of a site's positive feelings one could not enter into a vision quest blindly trusting that the site was safe. One never knew who had been there before and what dark shadows they may have left behind. This ancient site, though clearly originally elven, as seen by its carvings, had lots of time to have been used by evil as well as good.
Anna trusted Millicent to ward of any earthly demons while she was in trance, but her feline companion would be powerless against any malign spirits that might intrude into her dream state. So a purification spell was necessary to cast out any malevolent spirits who may be lurking about and who would welcome the chance to pounce on someone deep in a waking dream state.
So Anna cast a spell that had been drilled into her under the adroit tutelage of Lady Larkspar, a spell that she could cast flawlessly, a spell fairly guaranteed to burn the butts off any evil spirit who may be lurking about and intent on causing mischief. This did not mean of course that Anna expected her vision quest to be full of light works, but any darkness that was there was meant to be so; it would be there for her, and not be some cast off baggage left behind from someone else's malevolence.
So with her critters in tow, and the sun going down, she slowly paced the site, chanting her casting out spell as she went, making sure to check all the corners that might be cloaking some web of darkness. Her light burnt bright blue casting its purifying rays wherever she went. The site was now cleansed and ready for her work.

I love the warmth of this finely detailed scene the scattering of the leaves...everything works together nicely
wow Roxy! sure is one of your best. love the coloring and fanous cat in your renders, lol steve / did you hear about Lori's mom??
Great image.I think that cat is growing. Like the leaves blowing around to give the sence of motion. It is going to be interesting Vision Quest.
People have been commenting that Millicent is growing. Actually she is the same size as she was in the first image. Remember, Anna rides Millicent so she has to be a big cat. George however is growing, albiet slowly right now, he is about 20% bigger than when he was in his egg.
Very nice looking picture! Good work!
Wonderful scene with lots to see! Love you beautiful colors and sublime post work! ;o)
This one is as magical as any vision quest, Roxy! The stunning light for one reason. The wonderful way you used the blue point to cast a glow over her and the stones, very beautifully done. I love the overall colors and the way you put some blue into the leaf swirl as well. That ties the browns, rusts and the blues together so well in this picture, providing cohesiveness along with the golden glow on the leftmost pillar. The glow of the sunset is so natural in this. Flawless postwork! Millicent and George.. and the crow showing up in this one is special! Your motif is so carried through in your series, and as usual the story just rocks! Great one! Delaney
WOW, Roxy! This is just so powerful a scene. the posing and lighting are excellent. I can't wait to see what happens next....
Beautiful!! Nice job!!
Wow.. Great scene! Love you beautiful colors and lighting. Excellent work!
Indeed it appears that Anna is well on her way to a perfect Vision Quest. Stunning work as always, Roxy! Such a lovely color vibration here - the warm tones contrasted by the blues of her spellcasting - just perfect! Yep - that's one big kitty-cat! I think George will be getting a LOT bigger.. Excellent work, excellent series. Speaking of Vision Quest - I'm going to put on some Troika, now....
Extremely beautiful bold colors with a painterly feeling, a masterpiece. The sky is fabulous, and the scene is full of details like the scattering leaves and the Celtic knot and the texture on the stones and trees. A magical and bewitched evening! It if really fun to follow brewgirlca's artistic progress.
