Description
Sir Ghislaine was a knight-errant, constantly roaming throughout the realm looking for adventures and tests of courage to prove himself. He heard tell that there was a troll terrorizing the forests of Umbresia and so he set off to that land. The troll was said to roam the forests on foggy nights of the full moon, and so Sir Ghislaine set out to find this terror, choosing his mighty war hammer to fell the beast. The courageous knight-errant indeed found his quarry, but was much surprised that the wily troll had a hammer too...a bit mightier than his own! The question is whose hammer will strike home first?
As I attempted to illustrate this story, the image was just not popping out like I had hoped until I started playing with some filters and found this one which produced a result that reminded me of the sketches in old books of myth and legend that I used to read as a kid. These were images sketched in pen or pencil that illustrated climatic moments in lives of legendary characters or mythological creatures, and I think this scene is reminiscent of those. I hope you like it too!
Thanks for looking and for your comments and favorites, they are a great source of encouragement for this artistic knight-errant!

Diferent.
Yes, I think that this works too. Nice effect and sets the mood too.
This is great! Well done!!
WOW! Love the filter - is that a Photoshop filter? It's amazing! It really makes the image "pop" (sorry for the 'cliche' terminology...)

This is awesome work of art! The feel and mood is well set in this b&w. :) I sure hope it's true what they say... that size doesn't matter. ;)
Beautiful in every way! I love this style!
gorgeous composition!!
A most extraordinary and masterful work of art! I must agree! The filter you chose fits this subject matter perfectly! A most excellent masterpiece! Bravo!
Very much puts me in mind of the old etchings they used to have in books. Great illustration.. I literally had to pick my jaw up when I opened it! Wonderful work, Marco! Keep up the good work!
Very artistically done! Your right, this really does make the image pop, more so than it might've been in color :) Guess the encounter could go either way - first one to hit or miss, or it could drag out for a lengthily tiresome while as both dodge and miss...
this has got to be your finest image ever Marco. i can't believe the amszing work you did on this, can't even understand how you achivied this masterpiece. most impresive by all standards. 10*s Happy holidays / Steve
Fantastic image !!! Looks like the Troll believes in the adage of "When in doubt, Get a bigger Hammer!'
Grand Night scene!!
Fantastic image and I applaud the style that you used to present this work. Dana
Great imagination!Work very interesting and awesome!
That's a wonderful look, the b/w makes the image very moody.
Sir Ghislaine apears to be lacking confidence judging by his expression and it looks like the time for running may have passed him by. Perhaps he will get a pretty nurse for his recovery :) Very cool image Marco
I really like the look of this one. Smack that troll in the kneecap and bring him down some.
Nice one.
Amazing work!!!
Amazing piece!!
