Description
Captured 10/24/10, at the 9th Annual Wings Wheels Rotors & Expo, held at the beautiful Joint Forces Training Base (JFTB) in beautiful Los Alamitos, California.
Better viewed full size.
The Golden Knights are elite parachutists chosen from the Army parachute team. All kinds of info about them on Google.
Instead of their customary customized Fokker aircraft, they jumped from a Douglas C-47 in this instance.
Peering into the bright sky, blindly trying to locate the jumpers through the tiny viewfinder, was not easy, so the camera did most of the work in this exercise. The LCD monitor was of no help, so I'm surprised the shots came out this well. Trying to focus in the last photo was next to useless because the chap was dropping like a brick, much too rapid for my lens to compensate, so I won't apologize for the blur. He landed mere feet from where I was standing.
Good day/night, thankx for clicking on, and for any and all complimentary comments and faves.

a great show that you entered here! It is no longer possible to write that man descended from monkeys ... when he proves that he descends from heaven! hihihi ... smiles
These are our boys Harry. They make it look so easy. Fine sequence...like the fact that each jumper has his own distinctively colored shute.
My other half has banned some activities of mine after the kids were born. How I miss sky diving. Nice shoot!
Another great collage with lots of action. I think you have done very well capturing these men. We used to live close to an area where they did sky diving and sometimes when I was in the garden the sound of the chutes opening made me jump, also the shadows passing over me. I loved watching them though when I was aware of them.
YOU lead a dangerous existence? What about these guys flinging their fragile bodies about in the atmosphere? Better them than me...I think you got excellent shots considering they're action-based, I like how they start tiny and are big by the last shot. Well done!
wow you got him way up there in the air and then as he got cose you moved thinking he going to land on you. what a thrill that was. cool shots
Shot 4 is particularly good!
Nice frame by frame action. Good clean colors.
WOW! Harry! An outstanding series of shots.. And that last one! Well, was he going to land ON you! lol Great work, got to say.. Well done my friend :-) Rob
Toooooooooo COOOOL! Way cool set of shots harry!
Nice work on this collage Harry. I like how the parachutist gets bigger as we look down the collage. Dana
These are fantastic!!
I know I'm always one short of your most recent---but I'm like that with just about everyone, as I just can't keep away from earlier ones I missed. But this is the beginning of the series you're showing in your latest, so I thought I'd start with this. I appreciate the difficulty of these shots, without ultra expensive (and fast) lenses, and I also know the trouble knowing exactly what you're seeing---esp as one looks right into a sun-bleached sky. So you have no complaints here: These are powerful shots: You caught the huge expanse of sky as it envelops these jumpers (top 3); and your sequence---from far to closer to "on top of you"---really drives home the expanse and the emergence of humans falling out of it. The final shot is wonderful, for the face and how dominating those parachutes are. The sequence is terrific. It's a very finely caught sequence, and your opening shots really show how vast the sky is when they first enter into it. FIne work & montage, Harry.
