Description
Inside the walled area, pictured in my last post, was situated the Royal Victoria Hospitals psychiatric wing (or, as it was known when built, asylum wing).
The asylum wing was erected in 1870 and remained in use until 1978.
This is a view of the rear of the building. The wings which jut out were where the wards were situated, the recessed parts were the connecting corridors.
The building now houses function rooms and the Hampshire Police Training Centre.

It looks model like, and very unlike any asylum one would see in movies. Very clean brickwork... and nice angle.
Looks pretty austere! If you weren't crazy going in, you soon would be, ha ha!
Nice!
