A WIP, this is also a display of both the update of my BenHur Arena Outer Wall, and the wonderful chariot model by Adh3d which I have added here to start to get a feeling for my large canvas creation to come.
The original Outer Wall model was meant as a backdrop item in support of the main BenHur element, the Center Island with huge figure at either end, and the Chariot Entrance.
Seeing that people are concerned over the size of all three elements for their systems, I have started to update each to be the main element with additional structural detail, textures and image panels. I have opened a portion of the roof of the main building with a beamed ceiling, added a reflecting pool, and raised one of the cellar grates so animals, slaves etc can be placed inside. This should provide many the chance to create a Chariot race without having to add all three elements where not possible.
To show that this is doable on a normal system, this has all been done on my MacMini while running Poser, mail, and firefox open at the same time.
Modeled in Modo, there are 108 textures so you have plenty of opportunity to alter or replace my materials and image maps to achieve a different look. One recommendation I have is think about adjusting bump maps in relationship to your lighting and atmospheric choices. I often find that having set up a particular bump number, a different lighting situation and camera position will often benefit by adjusting these numbers.
A word about the Chariot model by Adh3d. I have at this stage only imported his basic setup and duplicated 4 times to see the effect on machine performance.. and to show you the possibilities. This also provides me a chance to study how I will position the drivers, whips in the air, people leaning over the wall waving etc... who knows maybe even throwing things!!!! The Chariot model is very impressive and while you can load each item individually, Alex has provided a single selection that loaded the main chariot, looks up the Adh3d horses and sets them down as a single unit... a real time saver. What you see here is just that without changes. A great starting point.
For those who have been watching Blood & Sand.. just imaging that whip action in the air over the heads of the other chariot drivers! :)

Well it certainly is a fantastic model! The breaking it up a little in smaller standalone chunks sounds like a good idea. For example with stonemasons creations you typically don't need ALL "Streets Of The Mediteranean" or "Streets Of Asia" at any one time. Are London224's creations up to the same standard as stonemason, ie the best of the best? We don't don't know that of course, until we actually lays hands on one!

Very kind to even mention me in comparison to Stonemason.. but I haven't reach that level yet. The body of work that Stonemason as done is truly outstanding, the attention to detail, UV mapping and modeling are things to aim for and push me along as I develop.
