Description
...these two British airplanes are vintage 1940 but they were photographed last Saturday, August 7, 2010 flying at Paine Field, Washington. The day was gray and drizzly...not much color to work with...similar to Battle of Britain weather in July and August 1940.
My postworked photo here is grainy enough to take on a seventy year old look...don't you agree? LOL
...Hope you aren't worn out by all the talk of prop blur but this is my entry to the challenge I posted on July 25th (Click Here for a refresher).
...That's a Supermarine Spitfire on the left and a Hawker Hurricane on the right. Most of my shots were miserable failures last Saturday but this one at least shows reasonably in-focus airplanes with plenty of prop blur.
Thanks to all of you who have posted "prop blur" photos since the 25th of July. I hope I am not missing anyone...I've seen photos from auntietk (Tara), debbielove (Rob), and several from cfulton (Clive)...have I missed your entry?
The challenge still stands...:)

Really looks like an old photo. Excellent work. :)
Great shot, I can almost hear the Merlin engines!
Very interesting perspective, showing the differences in shape not usually seen in photographs. Very well done. Looking foreward to more from this meet. :)
Excellent capture and I like the blured surroundings. You are right, it looks like an ild shot.
You sure took us back in time with this one, great work!
I know it's a "chance" item, but the next picture submitted was entitled "Seagulls on the hunt" and the birds are almost in the same position (though one of the birds is "breakin' right" for an attack). Wonderful postwork on this one, I thought it was vintage when I first saw it in the queue.
Thankyou for your comment on my 'wholeplaneblur', Bill!!LOL! This pic is great.reminds me of my childhood when the sound of a plane in the sky was pleasant, unlike now.
Great shot and b/w made it fantastic.
Ohhhh wait till Rob sees these!!
Great work on the ageing and the blur, Bill! The trees give a great reference to the low fly-by. Clive
Well done, Bill!
splendid capture and postwork!!
Excellent capture. Bill! Rob will really appreciate this shot
This could have come straight out of the war news in 1940. Great shot Bill.
Great shot.
A couple of these old planes show up here from time time; they have such a distinctive sound. Of course, I NEVER have my camera at the time--figures!! Great shot!!

Yep - this looks like it could have come straight from 1940, Bill. Very neat shot with some kickin' prop blur! Awesome photo!
Fascinating image, no crit at all - you did it real good justice - you know Bill, the Kenny Loggins hit: 'Highway to the danger zone, gonna take you right into the danger zone' comes to mind, now back to the Luftwaffe....hehe BB
