Description

In July we went to the Arlington air show. This is only the second shot I've posted from that day. The first was At the Air Show from July 11th. I know you might expect to see photos of planes from an air show, but there were so many other interesting things to see! The Arlington air field is quite large, and to walk the perimeter could take more than an hour, depending upon how fast you went. On a hot day it's a bit of a hike! The air show folks kindly provide transportation. They had a few of these tractors towing open platforms with seats, and there were trolly stops all around the field. The tractors drove around and around in a circle all day, stopping at each station, and people could get on and off as they pleased. The service was free, and at one point we rode all the way around the field. The tractor is an International Harvester, McCormick Farmall A. I believe it's probably early 1950s, but that's as close as I can get.

Great shot of this tractor and driver. I wonder how fast it needs to go to get airborne!!! Lol.

A great title because you tricked us all, and made me laugh. I loved Jayfar's comment, that made me laugh too. Oh, and I love the shot of the tractor and driver, too.

Only you (or me for that matter) could go to an airshow and come away with a shot of a tractor! It's a beauty, and that was very thoughtful of them to provide alternate transportation... Wonderful capture!

He must be only taxing out to the runway by the look of the background not enough motion blur to be taking off lol. Love shot of this old tractor, its in lovely condition..

WOW! What I really like is the fact that the body of that tractor looks like something that belongs to a wasp, though I have yet to see a red FARMALL wasp, but there are marvels yet to be seen. I really like this shot, mostly for the incongruity of it. Great details and the kind of air-show slice of life that I would never have thought about. Really nice! You know? I'll bet there's a story in this image?

What can I say about photographing tractors at airshows? While my head was up in the sky, you were taking a much more down-to-earth look at transportation right in front of our noses. Great shot of an old boy and his almost antique tractor. Way to go:*

A headlight and a 50 to 60 year old tractor at an air show. OK, I guess that all the planes were stealth??? :>) Dana

I thought for one moment Bill had traded in his car :-) I'm particularly taken with the offset steering wheel, old vehicles are ALMOST as much fun as old planes.
