Nice shot, Tara! Those are lovely doors, and I've been through them a time or three - I used to service some office equipment in that building. The lobby is just as impressive - lots of Art Deco, if I remember correctly. I try to avoid downtown KC whenever possible, at least during the week. It costs a mint to park, and all the construction has things pretty well cobollixed up. But on the weekends, it really is worth a trip. There are still several buildings that reflect a time when some REAL craftsmanship went into these structures. There are some wonderful remnants of the Art Deco period still in perfect condition. I must take a Saturday soon and get some photos. It's amazing how one can live in a place, and rarely stop to see what's there to enjoy! Thanks for the inspiration!

Extremely cool building entrance with a cool marbled portal, but the brass on the doors is in dire need of polishing.

I really like the marble and the fake Roman lettering! Funny how in the days of really sophisticated sign generation, we still resort to the "straight line" method so epitomized by the ancients who found it more difficult to carve curves and avoided doing so unless it was absolutely necessary...that odd mix of ancient economy and modern curve-carving ability always makes for interesting signage! I really like the details in this and the sturdiness of the image itself. That marble is quite impressive and it goes nicely with the patina and the nice bronze color. Classical stuff! Really nice reflections too.

This is great. There is such weight and heft to these grand old buildings. Like looking at old cars of anything else from a certian period in American history the is a sense of craft, artistry and pride in a job well done. I love old buildings like this. The solid gleam of the doors and that wonderful marble kick serious butt. Nicely seen.

I am slightly embarrassed to say that as your driver that day I failed to even see you take this picture...oh, well, eyes on the road...both hands on the stearing wheel and all that stuff:) You've long been known for your "light & glass" images, but in recent months, doors have become quite your thing too. This is a fine example. RodS's comment above makes me want to add a few lobbies in the future... Are you up for that?
