Description
Flying in and out of Seattle gives some excellent views of Mount Rainier. I keep taking pictures of our tallest peak because it seems almost sacreligious not to! I mean ... there I am in a plane, and it's sitting right there! Sometimes it's the only thing visible above the cloud cover, as evidenced by this shot.
So despite the fact that I have posted photos of Mount Rainier from the air before, I'm going to do it again, and this probably won't be the last time, either! LOL!
I may have done a teensy bit of postwork to this.
Mount Rainier is the highest peak in the Cascade Range in Washington State. This active volcano is 14,410 feet, and has a topographical prominance of over 13,000 feet. That means it looks REALLY big!

Excellent photo and postwork, Tara. I suspect that Rainier is one of those subjects that you can shoot a thousand times, and never have two of the same photos. In this golden light, she's spectacular!
Well, I sure never saw it when I was there last time. From the air, or the ground, or even in my dreams!! But this a great shot, and the teensy bit of postwork you did is really cool!!!
This is something I wanna see for myself, with my own two eyes (well, three, if you count my camera.) What a magestic scene and your post work gives this a somewhat Venusian vibe: like something the Venera probe could conceivably have captured as the then Soviet Union sent it...well...crashing(?) onto the face of Venus. It's still there, corroded and dead--killed by the horrendous greenhouse effect and clouds of sulfuric acid. Wonderful place, Venus! I like this shot better, because it has snow in it, but it's nicely otherworldy. I also like Mount Ranier, quite simply because it's so darn likable, and it was there that the term "Flying Saucer" was coined as a pilot saw something saucer near the mountain. I guess extraterrestrials like Mount Ranier too, and were probably taking pictures because, as you said, it would be sacrilegious not to. Great shot! I love this! It's nicely moody!

Great view. I never get tired of looking at Mt. Ranier, and I live in Puyallup where it stands stark from almost anywhere here. Just walk out of the South Puyallup Wal Mart and the mountain jumps right into your lap. Since I'm too cowardly to fly (I'm not afraid of flying, I'm afraid of Airlines - long story) It's nice to see some pics taken by someone who isn't afraid to go up there. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like another planet. Excellent POV of a great and wonderful mountain, and I have seen Mt. Rainier on one of previous trips. I am seeing a lot of mountains on this trip. Maybe we can see Mt. Hood when we go to Portland.
