Description
Namibia 2010
I have captured this rather handsome and colorful fellow in Botswana en route to Namibia when we made a stop to stretch legs! The camera was handheld and the wind was blowing, so the challenge was huge! This was the best I could do under the circumstances.
It is obviously some kind of grasshopper but I really liked all the different colors of his couture!! I'm not sure what that clump is on his back. He might have been hurt or something..
Thank you for visiting my gallery and for your awesome support in comment and favs on my 'Kitty Cat' upload of yesterday!
Stay well!
Hugs
Carin xx

Aptly titled and an excellent capture!
Wow, this guy looks to have a big appetite!
Oooh, I love an insect in formal wear! At least I think it's formal wear! NEW formal wear as well, since he has "borrowing gunk" still on him. Annual Cicadas in Chicago are like that too...you see them just after they've emerged out of the ground, dressed to the nines, with "borrowing crumbs" still on them. They all emerge, then sit around doing what cicadas do best...which is...well...not much of anything, really. But ah, this is a different, extravagant critter all together. Quite an amazing one too! What colors! What lovely dots on an already lovely face! He (she?) is very fashion forward!
Vrai, pour les amateurs, cet insecte est de tout paré... pour l'inéluctable aventure !
Amazing photo and macro.
The colors of this grasshopper is beautiful. Stunning capture Carin.
Wow...just read all the comments above. Now I have all the answers to the mysteries of this "new guy" to the party. You did a fine job of capturing him for all of us to ogle. He looks as exotic to me as so many of the other creatures from your part of the world. Well done:)

Super capture. Looks like a youngster because of the size of the wings. Lovely colors and textures. Looks like dirt on his back. Dana
