I'm with Bill on the inspectors. It doesn't quite look like it could carry the weight of a train! Excellent shot though Tara and the postwork adds just a little magic to it! Bravo dear friend! :)

This is the Chicago that I know and love. Well, at least the Chicago that I know. Love might be too strong a word. I love all of the lines and the brute, rusting metal. It's so...Chicago. I think this section of the elevated line is quite old. It has that old Chicago look to it from back in the day when there were also street trolleys (the tracks are buried now.) This is a great shot, almost abstract and the POV is perfect.

I'm sure I was there but I sure don't remember this!! It's a great shot of a part of Chicago most people don't see. I can just see Corey and Chip wandering around under here, cameras out, ready for anything. Just makes me want to go back---but, yeah NOT in November!!

Great shot Tara. I have seen this view in New York and surrounding boroughs many times, but I don't think I haven't seen that much rust.

Ah, the wonders of the Chicago Transit Authority. This does look rather...um...shoddy, but the funny thing about that is for all of the rust and disrepair, those tracks were built to last. I think that pigeon poop might actually hold them together, and well...that stuff is indestructible if it's mixed with the right binding element, usually chewing gum. That rust is so familiar. Go to any elevated track and you'll see it...or crumbling concrete. It isscary to behold. That's what makes it so photographically interesting. I'd gone with Corey today, to Borders Books and managed to find Star Trek on sale for $20 or so...we rode the bus, but we were close to a really wonderfully-aged stretch of elevated track. I couldn't get a shot of it simply because the more dubious neighborhood residents were making use of the under-track areas, and I didn't trust the brand of street-grade liquor they were drinking. Anyway...all of that is to say that this photograph just screams Chicago, and the post work is amazing. It's so dream-like: okay, darkly dream-like, but that's a good thing. There's an underlying geometry that I like here, and I can almost smell the urban scent that would go right along with a scene like this. THIS is wonderful work, and yeah, it brings back great memories...what's great about that too is it was just the start...and I can easily see the Renderosity Ninjas reuniting either on the West Coast, or even in the wilds of Moscow. The subways/elevated trains are in better repair, though there are stretches of elevated track in Moscow that look disturbingly Chicagoan! Anyway, I'm rambling. I'm drinking Czech beer (Yeah, we have Pilsner Urquel in Chicago) and so my verbosity might just be a wee bit more beer induced than I'd originally anticipated, so I'm going to shut up. But not before telling you how much this shot rocks. I love it!

The El you say! Excellent POV and detail of the gridwork in this shot, but, oxidation reigns, and, oh man, get out the welding torch and/or soldering iron...this needs repair or replacement, like soooon!

Iron oxide is just natures way of returning our man made structures back to dust...via rust! Great shot, really captures the decay and magnificence of this transport system.
