Description
An apartment building on the Near North Side of Chicago.
You know how sometimes things get imprinted in your brain and then stay there forever? When I first started participating in the Photography Gallery here on Renderosity, I was struck by a picture Arthur made (awjay). (Okay, that happens a lot ... his photography is brilliant!) But there was one in particular of an apartment building with balconies, and it has stayed with me all this time.
If you're curious, you can see it here It's called Room With A View (I was just going to tell you the story, and then I thought, "No, they'll want to see it!")
When I saw this building, that image came back to me again. I couldn't get close to duplicating Arthur's point of view because the building is too tall, but I hope I've caught some of the same spirit. There's something about this that makes me sit and stare.
My friend, are you shocked that I remember something you posted 2-1/2 years ago? You just never know what sort of impact you have on people. You inspire me! Your memorable work prompts me to shoot all sorts of things I wouldn't have thought of otherwise. Thank you for sharing your vision with us!

Oh Tara - this is marvelous! I love images of buildings with this POV! I love the flowers on the one balcony... it almost "takes the edge" off the concrete monster! Wonderful work! Off to see awjay's image now!!

WOW! This is amazing! The POV is stunning, and the light/color combination is crisp, clear, clean, and classy. I like that, of course! What really strikes me is the sense of elegance you've created here. Stunning geometry too! In short, I like this a lot. And yeah, it's great when something makes a particular impact and shapes the way you see things in your own artistic world. I love it when that happens. Art is always so much richer when that cross-pollination takes place. This is a stunning, beautiful example of that.
OHH Yeah! This is super. I like the POV alot here and the sunny light on the building is stunning. You did a marvelous job Tara.
This makes such a complex pattern, I suppose it all boils down to mathamatics! It is also rather elegant,and looks as though it was rather more expensive per cubic metre than the one in Arthurs also excellent pic!

Thanks for the link! I totally understand why that image stayed in your mind. As in awjay's shot there is great perspective and I'm struck by the patterns. I like the curving lines of the balconies rising up to the curved roof. Also wonderful is the toothed shaped decorative trim which compliments the similar shape of the windows. Excellent capture!
