Description
Captured way back in August of 2005, early in the morning, at various and sundry spots around town.
Until auntietk/tara broke the ice with her fire hydrant shots, I thought I'd never post my hydrant folder of near fifty pictures -- taken several months before I ever joined the photography division of Renderosity -- but here they are, or at least the first five, which are all of different design. Several of the fifty are of the same hydrant, taken under different POVs and lighting conditions.
I also have them in a variety of colors, just like popsicles: the popular yellow, and orange, magenta, mauve, red, and even gray.
Ta-ta, and thankx for clicking on.
Incidentally, after what seems like eons, we're finally beginning to get some rain here.

Well, the rain I'm seeing here i Huntington Beach barely qualifies for the word--it IS wet, but that's about it!! Nice shots of those fire hydrants, never knew there were so many kinds!!
Lemon hydrants...reminds me of good old lemon drops. Tara has started a thread for fire hydrants too. I'm going to post there as soon as the gray skies depart my hometown.
Never knew there were so many different designs. Looking forward to seeing the mauve ones! Great images and collage!
Ha. this is a riot and I'm sure my dog will love this!! (kidding) I am always amazed at the latest craze around here, but sure enough I see some awesome shots.
Bright! Nice collage :)
Wow! Such a variety! Excellent shots. Thanks for posting these!
A bouquet of fire hydrants... who would have known! Nice to see the different varieties Harry! I see you also posted one in Tara's thread! :)
My Toro would love these. Colorful pic.
Ours don't look like those. I'll have to get one some time for you. Nice shots.
well, a fav for all three montages, they're all different and they're all a ton of fun not to mention visual journeys. I've never seen such a variety of hydrants in one city; nor so many colors. The middle collection (the one after this) has a real array of hues and almost irridescent hues surrounding the hydrants; and the third has terrific decay and discoloration—a feast for the photographer. (Loved the last two of that collection.) Yeah, these aren't necessarily the "usual fare" of photography galleries, but it doesn't matter a bit because they're what photography's about. This first group is amazingly yellow—and really different yellows too. And the 1st & 3d hydrants almost glow from within. And where'd you LA-ers get these shapes? You have so many different ones! Whereas we chicagoans have but one, mostly. In fact the 4th hydrant looks like it's throwing its arms out to take a bow, and the 5th is a little king, a veritable chess piece. (Good ending image: It's like the prince of the bunch.) I had no idea any city had this variety; but if there were a photographer who'd find it for us, it's you. Love the series, and love the variety. Dogs of the world, unite! (Maybe that's how the third bunch got so grungy, lol...)
