Playing with filters again ...
There are loads of ways to separate foreground from background. I isolated the flower in this image and postworked the sections separately. This is too much fun! :D
The day we went to MooseRidge, we started out at Cindy's place, wandering through her garden. The dahlias were just starting, and this lovely single yellow variety was irresistable!

The separation is, as always, very fine; and your filtering really does separate the petals and the lines inside them. It's almost like a drawing (though I detect a little canvas underneath!) You've captured all the ornery folds & turns of the petals, and made a good background for the flower (in the soft trees & leaves, etc). I love how you get most of your gallery from your local jaunts to friends' places, Mooseridge, garden centers, etc: You exemplify the adage that the photograph starts in the inner eye—if you've got that, you'll find the physical photograph almost anywhere...
