Description
Stained glass window from a chapel that used to stand at Wheelus Air Force base seven miles outside of Tripoli, Libya. The base was closed in 1971 and this window, commemorating the lost B-24, Lady Be Good, was donated to the National Museum of the USAF.
If you've never read of the mysterious disappearance of the lady Be Good in 1943 and the accidental relocation of it in 1959, this page is worth reading: B-24, Lady Be Good
Thanks for stopping by,
Bill:)

great picture!!
A superb capture of this beautiful stained glass windeow, The lighting is really great.
Awesome and very well taken shot, my friend! I must confess, this slipped my be on our trek1 Thanks for reminding me of it... A very fine shot indeed! Rob.
gorgeous!!!
Beautiful stained glass window, Bill. Glad it was saved. Lone Star Flight Musuem in Glaveston had a great model display of the "Lady Be Good" wreck before Hurricane Ike hit. The Libyans say they still have a number of parts from the plane, but I suspect we won't be seeing them any time soon.
Brilliant photo, the light and colours are perfect.
A great picture Bill!
Fascinating! I will have to go see that site.
Amazing capture of the stained glass - thank you for sharing this.
the stained glass is beautiful in its own right, designed to take us up and beyond (the lines converge in infinity), and it's wonderful that you posted it as an historical document. But it's also a fine shot, capturing the light and shade of the art; and your crop is perfect. And thanks for the background on the window. I heard of the B-24, but I'll read more on it when I'm through here. A beautiful capture of light, which is what stained glass is designed to celebrate...
Intersting link, Beautiful window & photo!
