Description

(bah-bobbidee-BOM!) Got the email notice- "Get yourself Studio 3!" (bah-bobbidee-BOM!) "It's a much better product - and you can try it for FREE!" (bah-bobbidee-BOM!) So I downloaded it just to see what it could do... (bah-bobbidee-BOM!) And now you know its got me - SINGING THE BLUES! (BOM! BOM! BOM!) Oh yeah - I'm singin' (bom-bom) Singin' those DS3 blues! (bom-BOM-bom-bom) Oh I've never felt so stymied (bom-bom) Shot down, whatever I do... (bah-bom-BOM) (bah-bobbidee-BOM!) So I tried my first render, lets see what I got (bah-bobbidee-BOM!) Freebie lights and shaders work fine, but nothing I BOUGHT! (bah-bobbidee-BOM!) They say "No memory-based runtime errors no more" (bah-bobbidee-BOM!) But now I'm seeing, errors that I have-not-seen-before! (BOM! BOM! BOM!) Oh yeah - I'm singin' (bom-bom) Singin' those DS3 blues! (bom-BOM-bom-bom) Oh I've never felt so stymied (bom-bom) Shot down whatever I do... (bah-bom-BOM) (bah-bobbidee-BOM!) Nothing works just like it used to, oh what a mess (bah-bobbidee-BOM!) Which "content" folder to use, just gotta guess (bah-bobbidee-BOM!) But wait what is that - hey that is just too COOL! (bah-bobbidee-BOM!) Tucked away here and there - way too awesome tools! (BOM! BOM! BOM!) Oh yeah - I'm singin' (bom-bom) Singin' those DS3 blues! (bom-BOM-bom-bom) Oh I guess it's worth the effort (bom-bom) Just gotta relearn every-little-thing-I-used-to-do! (bah-bom-BOM) OH YEAH! (bobbidee-bobbidee-bob-i-dee... BOM!) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - My first (successful) Daz Studio 3 effort. Minimal postwork: painted a couple of stubborn clothing seams and added the logo is all. Well, its clear this is a major upgrade with LOADS of wonderful and worthwhile stuff. But a good deal of the existing DS 1.x and 2.x tools and techniques either don't work at all or don't work the same. The shaders and lighting are particularly an eye-opener. Still, it looks to be VERY worth the effort to learn how to use this watershed version. The problems are more annoying than damning. Since I don't want to re-do (yet again) the shaders and surfaces on my Aranée characters, I guess I'll hang on to my trusty 2.3 and finish the series with that product... I appreciate your thoughts on DS3 - and a very creative way to convey them! Cool render - nice atmosphere and light! And I think I am sticking with Carrara...

Dont use the product but I have to say that is a great poem and could probably be used in a whole range of software upgrade products. Yea, you probably don't want to change horses in midstream with your series.... it would probably cripple it. Hang in there.

I didn't mean to convince people to NOT try the product, quite the contrary. But I AM strongly urging everybody to plan on running 3.x and 2.x at the SAME TIME until you get comfy with the new world order LOL. ;-)

Luckily, I was just starting in DAZ so I really didn't learn to do much before the update. I still don't know much. Lol. But you are right, there are some way cool things available. Neat new tools, too. But, oh, man. Does it ever love the crashin' blues! I've figured a way around the crashing updater. (scan for new files) I load them all into DAZ 2 then open 3 & update my settings from 2. This seems to work & from then on, it will work ok in 3 until there is an external update, or you get a new toy. Then you got to do it again. I highly suggest you keep your previous DAZ installed on your pc. & no, I can't find anything, either... lol! Cool render here. Love the song! ")

Very clever! Too bad the message got a little misinterpreted by some. I picked up 3A immediatly to get the better deal but won't bother with it until a few more plugins get updated. The transition process is such a pain.

Great render and humor, Larry. I installed DS3 Adv 64 bit a few days ago...it is very very fast. But it annoys me.. that most plug-ins don't exist in a 64 bit version yet. I guess i can throw my Dynamic clothing control in the garbage can. #;oD I asked about that in the DAZ forum yesterday. Some admin suggested that i should have 2 Daz Studios on my new PC. A 32 bit version, and a 64 bit version...What kinda solution is that? ...Some times i really hate DAZ #;oD
