Description
Maybe "Strawberry..." was the girl next door. Or maybe she sent the pilot a Dear John letter. :-)
One way or the other, she makes a memorable sight on the front of this World War II Consolidated B-24 Liberator bomber in the USAF Museum.
Sometime in the near future, I'll see if I've got the photos to show you more of this workhorse of the early 1940s.

excellent find and shot
Great example of the art of nose art.(I've had an idea!.....will let you know ).Excellent detail in zoom, thanks Bill.
Great photo of great nose art!
Great nose art
Whatever else is going on here, you have to love the styling of the shoes from that era! Nobody's topped that since, imho.
Love it!
Beautiful warart. Great shot!!!
amazing how little design has changed.... wonderful shot, Bill!
Great find, Bill. Pose is reminiscent of Enoch Bolles' or George Petty's pin-up work.
Great art and I like how you shot this one. Gave the guys a boost, that's for sure.
Very nicely done. I think I met Strawberry's Daughter, if so they were being kind when they named the bird. One of deals like Mother like Daughter. Could have sent either one into the battle without the B-24 and the war would have ended quick. ;-)
Well I am by nature (Unfortunately as I adore them) allergic to strawberries, and after 18 years of a virago wife allergic to Bitches too :)...Great shot tho' bud, the Liberator was a cool looking bomber was she not!
lol great image...love everyones comments also lol
Great shot.
a new great piece of nose art! great capture, and LOL about the Dear John letter!!!!!
Just LOVE her shoes.
I love the WWII airplane nose art...It had a big influence on hot rod decals and paint in the 1950's...
The shoes, the shoes----oh YEAH!! OH, and yeah, the art on these planes was awesome!!
excellent :)
Excellent
nice!
Great pic ! --------- Actually, with the loss ratio of this type, it would need much more than an euphemism for this "bitch" to keep her men alive P
Wow .. LOL Great shot and name! :)
I for one want to know how that name was chosen...inquirey minds need to know!
Bill this is excellent photography of a superb nose art, a really interesting capture! hugs Jane xx
Stellar shot, considering the lighting environment. The artist was right on with this one, Bill; great knowledge of the gal's bod most apparent. As for the workhorse of WWII, few realize that the bomber was manufactured in greater numbers than the more celebrated and legendary B-17 Flying Fortress. In fact, the B-24 was produced in greater numbers than any other bomber in aviation history.
Cheers....there is my new laptops wallpaper right there!
Love that nose art and the B-24!
this is excellent!!!
