Description
One of the most wonderful things about Hawaii is how truly connected to their past and to their land the people are. They have a deep respect for where they live, and they honor their ancestors with a profound grace. This heiau (ancient Hawaiian Temple) is right in Kona and I walked there almost every day. It has a sense of peace and silence that touched me. I found myself drawn to these places everywhere I went.
**peaceful places

ulous place.Wonderful capture
Fabulous! A scene worthy of Hansel and Gretel in its magical overtones.
Unbelievable photos and story. Only a few places left that I need to visit, before I'm just to old to travel, Hawaii is one of them. I hope that you have hundreds of Hawaii postings to go. Checked out the link. Wow! Dana
This is gorgeous...I love old places, and this certainly has that aged, dignified vibe...plus being a sacred space for an indigenous population is an extra bonus. Now, aside from that, this is great work...fascinating and gorgeous. **By the way, I love the Polynesian language, it's so lyrical...so...appropriate to my ear.
Very interesting (Hawaiian Temple) indeed Marilyn! I'ts good to see your spirit uplifted from your wonderful holiday.
The little foot prints had touch your soul. Very nice capture. Aloha
yes and I remember these too. Astonishing structures, human but made of the earth, very primal yet very protective. Your Hawaii shots captured all those things & the magic & the power. I mean power as in "this place has power." The kind that shamans speak of when they stop in their paths and say, "wait; don't move; there's power here". These things have power, they're mysterious & beautiful and very strangely visceral; what temples probably were before established religion got its hands on them. Very mystical, so glad you shared this with us.
