I had to laugh when I read Jeff's comment just now on my Mother Goose and goslings upload of last night. He said the goslings should be safe as he sees no crocs in the pond. Well Jeff - this croc is for you - shot on the same day!!! Don't worry though - he is not in the same pond as the babies!!! LOL... This guy was just lying there with his mouth wide open. I am not sure why crocs do that as this is not the first time I see them do that. I saw a croc in the Kruger Park doing the same thing. Maybe it is a way to cool down...
Thanks for clicking in and for your very valued comments and faves on my Egyptian Goose upload of last night!
Take care!
Hugs, Carin xx

Maybe he is not in the same pond, but he may travel... ;) Excellent shot, Carin!
great photo!!!!!
Could be a cooling thing?..nature has strange ways, last summer although it was very poor by standards, we had a couple good days, and after the rain my dog Jazz sat in a puddle for like ten minutes LOL...Great shot Carin, bet you are getting excited with the Namibia trip now? :)
awesome shot Carin
Wow! Excellent capture! Really sharp! :)
brilliant photo were you near him, I dont think i would go very near, they can run as fast as a dog. And yes he is cooling down, after seeing the hot thing that shot the picture:)
hey i know that smile, met him in a ally in JHB, just joking great photo. well done
great capture Carin, nice postwork too... his neck looks like pebble-like stones, pretty nice camouflage until you realise what it belongs to (at which time it's already past the time to run eh?!)
He has a particularly nice pattern and color in his skin. Love the postwork too. Great capture!
Great shot, i trust you weren't too close when you shot this..
Great shot Carin!
Such stunning details!!
excellent capture, Carin! :)
Stunning shot, the details are fantastic!
Great shot. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the obvious. He has a cold and his nose is stuffed up. Bill:)
I love the color and light
GREAT SHOT AND POST WORK. GATORS DO THE SAME THING TO REGULATE THEIR TEMPS.
Great shot. I think he is smiling for the camera. For those who are concerned for your safety, neither his eyes nor the posture of his head are in the attack mode. That can change rather quickly if he is in a grumpy mood, ;-)
Nice portrait! I searched, and found they even sleep with their mouths open, to help in temperature regulation. :D
i think is to easy capture ,they only have to close the mouth LOL great image Carin..you are very brave :D
Wow, really impressive!!
Beautiful detail and composition Carin!
Ouch, what big teeth you have Grandma.... Fine capture displaying the widely-spaced molars and awesome reptilian texture of the skin, Carin!
Wow! That's an awesome shot!
superb image!
I also hope you weren't too close when you got this shot! If you were, have you counted all your fingers and toes? What a primitive and beautiful creature this is. Excellent capture!
reptiles can not perspire so the use of their tongue helps cool them, at least that what I have always heard.outstanding capture
yeah i think they do cool down that way. nice pic.
wow that is an awesome shot!! excellent my dear .... PS thanks for the invite to SA.. theres nothing better I would love right now is sun and warm weather... sighhhhhhhhh........( I need to win a lottery lol )
Great capture, detail & texture. Dana P
