Description
Captured 3/8/07 as I began my 3-mile round-trip along the 300-acres of restored wetlands, located just north of Huntington Beach proper, photographing anything and everything in sight. Fortunately there was a beaten path to follow, which helped immensely in avoiding treacherous holes, cacti and scrub brush along the way.
The reserve supports waterfowl such as avocets, egrets, plovers, and the endangered least terns, whatever that particular species is.
The bottom three pictures show just a sliver of the Pacific Ocean in the distance.
At 640 by 480 pixels, these shots are not the best in resolution and clarity, but through the devine intervention of Photoshop I was able to bring them up to somewhat acceptable standards.
Thankx for stopping by, and have a sensationally stellar Saturday.

As teenagers we would go to Bolsa Chica to surf because it was less crowded than H.B. and because we were vals and the locals didn't like us at their beach. I seem to remember that area as industrial wasteland and oil pumps. Nice to see they've done something progressive with it. We're headed down to So Cal next week for a christmas visit. This looks like it might be a good place to take the kids on a field trip. Thanks for the beautiful shots and the memories.
Excellent collage Harry. You've developed them into your specialty. A place like this is a gold mine for photographers. Your 640 x 480 pixel shots look good. They give me a feel for the terrain. Bill
Looks a very interesting set of habitats!
Wonderful images of this important natural resource. What a great place for a walk - it's beautiful!
wonderful shots of this place that the birds can hang out at. Hope you get the photo of a rare bird.
I also remember this area as full of oil wells and industrial stuff...it's beautiful now! Great series of shots showcasing it!
My daughter lives a mile from there and we camp in our RV on the strip between the wetlands and ocean when visiting her. It is indeed beautiful as are your photos.
Oh, sigh, I love it there, beautiful fotos, Harry--you are making me wish I could be there right now. It's my old stomping grounds for sure!!
Wonderful place, realy like a pink flower carpet. Gorgeous shot for sure.
Interesting shots and so different than my Pacific side.. Brrrrrrr chilly up here in Oregon.

Beautiful place and wonderful photos.
Colors and light are fantastic on this shots. A fantastic series of excellent images!
Hi, remember me??!!?? :) Your collage gives a great feel for what it's like there. If it were here though, it would be one great ice skatin' place, and it would be covered with laughing children ... :)
Wonderful collage of these (what appeared to be restored) wetlands Harry. I love places like that where you can go sit in the shade of a tree armed with zoom lenses and a tripod and just wait for the perfect shot... :)
wow a fascinating collage, Harry, so many different views and colors
Great series of excellent captures.....lovely done!
