Description
Resurrection I
Having been freed from Ereshkigal's grasp, Ishtar and Tammuz return to the land of the living, spreading fertility and life as they go. As they leave Ereshkigal's dark lands of the dead behind them, Ishtar's loyal vizier, Ninshubar, rushes to embrace her mistress!
Oh, my Lady of Light, I see by my own eyes that it is true! You are free and life has returned to the land of the living. Brave Isimud was able to gain your release and I see also that of Tammuz. Grandfather Enki be praised! If not for him we should all have perished!
Ninshubar!! My most beautiful and loyal cousin, my dearest and most beloved friend. Yes, Enki be praised, but Isimud has told me that it was you who raised the alarm with my parents to free me and failing that it was you again who went to Grandfather to secure terms for my freedom. If not for you, my brave and resourceful vizier, Tammuz and I would not be here now. I love you beyond what any words can express.
Oh Ishtar, it is true; I fought so hard for you! But now I just need to hug you my dear for still I cannot believe that you are here.
Ninshubar, I am here! Because of you we have returned. Tammuz and I are both resurrected. Cannot you see that I am cutting through the darkness of death; cannot you see that the light of life has returned to the land of the living? Who else but Ishtar could do such a thing?
---------------
In most modern Wiccan traditions the story pretty much ends here with Ishtar and Tammuz both being resurrected. With their return, fertility and life returns to the land of the living and Ishtar’s role as Goddess of Love is celebrated with full due praise.
However, modern Wicca conveniently ignores the burden that was cast upon Ishtar for the release of Tammuz. The ancient Sumerians knew that the story could not happily end here. Ishtar still had her demons to deal with; she was now obligated to find a way to balance life and death, passion and law. She had to find someone that she truly loved to take the place of Tammuz. Would not her beloved Ninshubar seem to be an ideal candidate? No, dear reader, the real tale of resurrection has not yet been fully told. Noble sacrifices have yet to be made.

Thanks to all of you who have been following and commenting on this series and welcome to any newcomers. It's your comments that keep me going on telling this most ancient, but wonderfully tortured and twisted tale of humanity. I'm now at 20 and still going … I had thought it would be done in 10!

cool image, pose and lighting
love the poses and the environment. great story
excellent chapter and image.
This was really fantastic story, and I love happy endings, but I'm bit confused now...Is this really the end?? You are very talented story teller Roxy, and I hope you keep doing these in future too. Great posing and landscape in this image and sword effect looks fantastic. Excellent!! :)
Dear Readers: I hope that I have not confused you. This is the end of the story only for modern Wiccans; I am staying true to sholarly research into this most ancient of written stories. There is more to be told ... that is why it is called Resurrection I, there will be a II. Ishtar still has her obligation to fulfill to her sister Ereshkigal. She is bringing life back to the land but now she must balance life with death at her command. Ereshkigal has forever more forced Ishtar to no longer be just a Goddess of love and reproduction.
Nicely done rendition of the tale, unfolded very well wrapped inside your images, Roxy. I look forward to the next series. seth
Well done but who is she going to choose? Guess I'll wait and see :) Don
like your attached story alot, great characters to represent the story, super job my friend. steve

Outstanding work Roxy ..Your composition is Excellent as always between the story and the render...one always complements the other..Bravo...as for the lighting it is perfect because to me it gives off a refresh look to your atmosphere and splits the mood of the two worlds of life and death... the flare effect also adds to this sensation...very cool and so well done!!! keep them coming my friend.5+++
Wonderful work.

Excellent depiction of the story !!!! B*B
Great scene and story Roxy always I look forward to them. Well done Hun
Divias with an attitude...But is their some deep deception in play here? keep it rollin..
A wonderful story, I am looking forward to what else will happen in this enthralling tale:-) Super image, great feeling of movement with fabulous lighting and poses!
I think you did an amazing job at capturing the end-of-the-nightmare aspect of this moment. The struggle is over for all the characters involved (or so they think). I was a little thrown at first by how different this picture looks from the rest of the series (it features natural daylight, trees and plants etc...) but I think it was the perfect choice to illustrate the return of Ishtar to the world. Nicely done here!
Excellent render and story ... well done Roxy!
Wonderful presentation, my dear !!!!!!!!!! Love the details and especially the rays !!!!
Another wonderful installment in your series! Wonderful natural-looking lighting. LOVE the light flare on her sword - how did you do this? Keep them coming...
There's never an end to such stories I think. With all the changes and destruction done by the follower religions, we may not know enough of the old times to find an end. We have to define it by ourselfs. This is a well composed image, so balanced with light and joy!
This is amazing, I am setting here in awe of not just this great image but the story. What brilliant work
I am always interested in the Believes of Wiccan and Witches ... But I lurn a lot more details of you Roxy ... You captured it great in this scene!!
Fantastic image!
