Description
Yes this is in the wild where the rubber meet the road. I saw this gator the first time on Sunday but it was too dark to get any photos. So i went out to Lake Martin yesterday and got some shots. I like this one and I did not add the sparkly at it moujth. it there by nature. the sun is in back for the sun is setting; It about 4pm at the time of the shoot. I got to go back in the morning on saturday or sunday to get the light in the eye itself. I did put on my 500MM lens but most of the shots was not good. I have to hand hold it. i put the window halve way up turn off my engin and rest the camera on the window for these shots. I could have pick up the iso and a highter shooting speed but I did not hopeing to get a clearer image.
I know better than get out the truck and set up my tripod. LOL my tripod be no leg tripod and me too.
Yesterday I saw two teens by the gator with a dog. They did see the gator swimming around but they keep on walking. I stopped and told them it a mother so she may go after them . They hop in the truck with they dog and I drove them to the docks. One boy say he did get chase by a gator one time and hope to never get chase again.
Thought of the eye as a loveing mother watching over her eggs.
I hope to get a shot of the nest lol forgot to look for it. I was photo shoot the mother and that all I was thinking about at the time .
Over two thirds of the photos was no good for camera movement. I going to put on my cable to click next time. I think it when I press the button on top that move the camera so much
thanks for looking and comments

OOOOOH! Cool shot! So glad you stayed in the truck. She does have a very watchful and maternal look in her eye! I have the same problem with my little camera, click the button to take the pic, and often it blurs from that tiny movement of pressing the button! Good thing it's digital so I'm not spending the money on film!
EXCELLENT CAPTURE , COLORS & BEAUTIFUL !!!!!
iihhhhh! Die hat Dich aber scharf angeschaut!!!! Also verabschiede Dich von dieser Welt, bevor Du das Foto von dem Nest machst! Wunderbare Aufnahme und Geschichte!!!!
Awesome Jock! Take care not to become gator bait! ;)
That motherly love looks back at me seeing lunch!.... Super Capture here. Aloha
Fantastic shot.
Super Gator close-up, I'm glad you had that 500mm lens, as I wouldn't like to get too close to this fearsome looking beast ! Well done and stay safe while hunting for the nest ! ~Cheers~
I see years ago a Walter Hill film about the National Guard, suppose more in the interior where you are. Very interesting zone to get a real adventure, or a experience of survivance (haha!). Excells, excells!!
Superb shot!
Eeeeeeeew! Alligator! Scary!!!!!! Even a camera from far away inside the truck wouldn't be far enough away for me! lol q-: Great pic! (:
I like this one! EXT work!
Such an excellent capture, very well done. And a wonderful backstory to the shot as well

Impressive shot Jock.....!!!!
wooow... such a fantastic capture! love it.
You can get a bracket to fix on your window in the truck Jocko, they sell them on Ebay but I don't know how much they are. I use the self timer sometimes instead of pressing the shutter. Superb capture of this gator Jocko, I think I would stay inside the truck as well, they can be quick over short distances, a lot quicker than I am as well. Love the little star at the tip of the snout, it adds a bit of punch to the shot, the reflected eye looks good as well. You did brilliant for a hand held shot, even if you did use the window to rest on. Excellent work. Bravo!!!!!
Awesome wildlife alligator capture jock bet that must have been a bit scary!!!
