Description
Here's the shot of Multnomah Falls I promised you yesterday. I got this today on the way back from a hike (three more waterfalls).
This time of year, just before sunset, the sun is far enough north to actually shine on the water for a few minutes. That, combined with the wind we had today, produced this rainbow. This certainly isn't the finest photo of this waterfall, but I thought the rainbow was special. I just happened to be there at the right time.
You can't see it in this shot, but way up at the top of the falls is a platform from which you can look over the edge and down to the splash pool. That's where I was when I took the picture of Little Multnomah Falls two days ago. You can see why I didn't want to back up. :-)
Just at the bottom of this shot, below the bridge, you can see the top of the lower falls that was in yesterday's shot. I shot this from the parking lot, so a railroad bridge blocked the rest of the lower falls. By the time I got close enough to be able to see the whole waterfall, the sunlight had changed and the rainbow was gone.

As many times as I've been to Multnomah Falls or driven past it, I've never seen a rainbow. You were certainly there at the right time to be able to capture this for our viewing pleasure.

I love waterfalls! We went to Yosemite some years back, and took the walk up to the Bridal Veil. We were very close to the falls, and getting sprayed with a lot of water, and the vibration of it was magnificient. I came down the path again, and felt as if we'd had a religious experience of some sort. :o)
