Description
This is as close as I can come to him I think I just had my 200mm lens on. I did not wish to put the 2x thing on the len to make it 400mm. I was afear it would fly away.
Here you see him makeing himself large to put fear in me. This is what he does and most animals will beleive this is a larger animal. I think a gator or bobcat would still go for him. Gators now is sleeping will wake up soon.
thanks for every thing. This is my on other good photo of a bird for now. I was useing 400 color film
P.S. kjpweb had say my "crane in a tree" was really a Great White Egret. I no bird watcher but I do not the birds went they there. Check out his gallery

meant to say I note the birds when they there.
I was going to crop him but I thout the land around him look like there is where he belongs
The surrounding environment is perfect...it gives us information on how and where he lives. It does not look to safe to me. An alligator could pop out of the water at any moment to snatch him up!
I think it looks perfect just the way it is .Awesome shot Jock
I wouldn't change anything either, Jocko.. fantastic shot.. you really put us right where you live with your pictures..
Excellent shot! Well done!
Very nice to see the whole picture. Excellent shot. Aloha
Excellent capture!
Very fine capture Jock... impressive with that pose !
Great shot! (Just not of a Pelican... it looks to be an Anhinga, which is a relative, but much smaller)
Fantastic mood and capture, Jock!!! I don't know pelican or not pelican, but beautiful bird!!! :)
He gave you a great pose! Sure looks like winter on the bayou to me!
Beautiful Photography. Excellent!! Congratulations!!
SWEEET PIX

Splendid and very opportune shot......!!!!!
Jocko, why not to trott you with a 300mm and a ring lengthens, it is super tele, and when I faisiais photo naturalist, I took the flowers 2 away meters!!! I like very much your 'wild shot' !

What a fantastic capture of this bird. Outstanding mood and light too. Superb!
Cool shot, I realy like a habitat of the bird!
A magnificent capture of this incredible bird. It does not matter what he is.. He is beautiful. Your shot is superb, thank you Jock, for sharing him with us all. He makes me smile. . . Hugs. Di.
A great photo of this pelican stretching it's wings !
Wonderful shot with the reflection and all.
great shot, not a Pelican as pjkweb said and not making itself big but drying its wings, in dutch its called aalscholver, local fishermen hate them and blame them for the lack of eal over here.
Beautiful capture of nature as it really is. The bird in its natural habitat is an ideal situation, you got some really excellent reflections on the water also, looks like a place gators could be lurking. Excellent work jock.
Nice color, POV and DOF in this shot, JOCKO! The bird, whatever it is, reminds me of the Phoenix that rose from the ashes to live again, but in this case it rose from the water. Also reminds me of the bird on the seal of Roosevelt's National Recovery Act.
looks like a commerant and it is drying it's wings. I can not see the hooked bill that Commerants has but they do spread their wings to dry. they have no oil in the feathers like water fowls.an excellent capture Jock.
Good capture Jocko, very nicely presented!
Kool capture of a CORMORANT drying his wings after fishing UNDERWATER and these fella's can hold their breath for up to 10 minutes, watch out fishies ! ~Cheers~
