Description
This is as close as I can come to him I think I just had my 200mm lens on. I did not wish to put the 2x thing on the len to make it 400mm. I was afear it would fly away.
Here you see him makeing himself large to put fear in me. This is what he does and most animals will beleive this is a larger animal. I think a gator or bobcat would still go for him. Gators now is sleeping will wake up soon.
thanks for every thing. This is my on other good photo of a bird for now. I was useing 400 color film
P.S. kjpweb had say my "crane in a tree" was really a Great White Egret. I no bird watcher but I do not the birds went they there. Check out his gallery

My thought was anhinga as well. Wonderful display he's giving you. Nice shot.
Another great capture..Excellent lighting and reflection! Congrats Jocko! :)
Dear Jock, I'll spare you the update again!!! ;-) This is a really a cool shot of the pelican!! I've always though they wee so cool looking flying along - they remind me of the great flying boats that opened up most of the wold to air travel. Sort of brown Pan Am Clippers!!!! I always thought birds spread their wings like that to dry them!! I've watched the cormorants at Brazon Bend State Park a lot with their wings out. Of course, Brazos Bend has also got a LOT of alligators, too!!! Super photograph!!!! Love ya!!! Meredith
ho! Superb natural large view !! wonderfull & efficient capture of life & refelexion!! xxxxx, Superb !
Great shot!
Oh this brown pelican is a real beauty! I have never seen such one! A fabulous shot! Bravo!!!
Lovely and beautiful shot! Bravo!
Cormorants do that to dry their wings. Anhingas do it while hidden in trees. I don't hink I have ever seen a pelican do this. The bayou has secrets a piling does not reveal.
Nicely captured. It's hard to get close sometimes and it's nice to see him in his environment here.
excellent capture of this beautiful bird********************
Searched to see what I could find about anhingas, cormorants (which is what I thought it might be) and pelicans. I think 'kjpweb' is right, I think it's an anhinga. Regardless of what it is, I love this photo! I love that you didn't crop it, but left it whole for us to see. But y'all gotta look at the full view .. you miss so much if you don't.
Great shot Jock! I'm not big on wanting to know the names as much as enjoying the Nature of things! :)
Good One Jock!!
