Description
The word Safari conjures up all sorts of images and the animal kingdom programs from Mutual of Omaha also added adventure to Africa. A friend Suzy, living in Phoenix AZ told me some about her uncle, who was behind the programs.
This photograph shows how anyone visiting Africa nowadays for the wildlife, would experience the "safari" - now more appropriately called game drives. It is a pity that tourists can not explore nature on foot freely but the positive side is that tourists come a lot closer to dangerous animals while in vehicles than would have been the case on foot. Another good reason for vehicles: the temperature was above 40C (104F). Wild animals do not recognize the human form in the vehicles and are consequently not showing typical alert behavior.
I get a number of very different types of questions ranging from the wild animals to conditions in Africa a tourist and photographers should know about. I opened a blog entry if anybody would like to leave a question or see what other people wrote or asked.

Fantastic composition and presentation. Excellent work! Thanks for the infos too!
Wonderful presentation once again and beautiful pictures! Always fascinating!
Wonderful collage of modern day African sight seeing, but whatever happened to the good old days of the great white hunter leading a group of tenderfoots from Europe/USA, single file, followed by native gun and equipment bearers, through the hot, humid and dangerous jungle? The new way doesn't seem to be much fun, challenging, or adventurous.
Superb collage, Oom Piet!! I am wondering WHO was on foot here to take the top shot of the vehicle!!!!!! Splendid work and information. Hugs. Di.
I just love your presentations! And the shots are no less of an eye candy, great job as always.

Excellent collage you create! May I say that I can't imagine to go to Safari...you know I really love animals - you know what I think!
I'm wondering if the nice looking lady on the left is someone you know well? Love this "wild" presentation. My sister recently went on a safari. She came very close to a Rhino I believe..But enjoyed it very much. This is wonderful Piet. Enjoy your weekend:0)bonita
Very creative collage and very interesting information about the modern safary! Thanks!
wonderful collage...you have a knack for making the photographs look 3d...wish I knew how you did it...hint hint...and wonderful information as usual.
stunning post work Piet and too bad the animals can not spot the bloddy poachers
Lovely composition Piet! Interesting! Nice one on the blog too! Best regards
Excellent composition, remarkable work!
Beautiful collage. When I was younger and single, I was going to go on a safari. Unfortunately, I didn't get to go. Maybe one of these days I will. I really enjoy seeing so many different places. Love the 3D too. Aloha
most excellent piet wonderful insight into African Life
Ciao Piet.
You made a fantastic presentation for this collage my friend ! I love it ! I don't know how you made this effect of "photo" but it's superb. This young lion seems to be very relax !!! I think I'll don't like to make a trip in this way... I need to walk, to visit be myself a place. Of course with a guide with me, who could teach me all about the place, fauna and flora, but in this way.... No, lol ! But for so many people, it's a good way. We are all differents, that's better !
Thank you for showing all these places Piet. The more I see your shots, the more I hope to have the opportunity to go one day in South Africa !
Have a peaceful week-end my friend. Nathalie
I love the picture effect under the lion! Great shots. I am just going to HAVE to visit SA and see these cats in person - one of these days. :-)
Wonderful collage you got here, I find the 3D aspect fantastic. Great shots, the trucks look ideal for the terrain and wildlife. The presntation is awesome, I really, really like it!!
super Prentation!
I love how you have the big cat popping out the photo Piet, excellent display!
Excellent capture, bravo!
Very nice montage!
what a lovely collage
Brilliant, I must learn more.
beautiful collage. Love the shots and the tone you present. Diverse...
Super collage, Piet. Thanks for the info! I still think of a safari as Stewart Granger in bush hat leading a column of hunters and porters across the savanna. I have to admit that this way looks a lot more comfortable.
