Description
Illustration recently completed for a WPT Poker magazine cover. 'Jonny Bax' is one of a new breed of online poker players - the cyborg enhancements were added to emphasize the technology/advances in online poker playing over traditional.
A photo of Jonny was supplied and mapped to a geomtery head. The head mesh was tweaked to match Jonny's features, and then the cybernetic apparel was modeled and added. Finally, the head mesh was used as a shadow catcher, and the subsequent shadows were overlaid in a Photoshop composite of the original photo.

drzorn - as I said in the blurb - the head mesh was only used as a shadow catcher, and then was composited on the real photo of his face - the only mesh you are seeing here is the cyborg parts! :)

IMO, the purple (synthetic) eye need much improvement (glass). Also, the light pointing on the "mechanic" side doesn't match very well the face. BTW it's a good start.
