Subject: Free Lace Shaders

ArtistX ( ) posted Tue, 04 February 2014 at 6:01 AM · edited Sat, 20 June 2026 at 10:04 PM

Hi All

Thought I would let you know that I have made another shader set for Carrara and I am giving it away for free, you can find it on my site here http://ow.ly/sYCSe - hopefully if all goes well I should be making more free sets in the future, at the moment I am trying to make some Luxus shaders :)

Read the README, it has important information in it :)

Enjoy

Big thanks to NexySaloon AKA Decarlo for her advise and patience in helping me make these shaders

hope you find them of some use :)

They are lovely, thanks!

One thing I'm not clear on - It says not to be used in Commercial Products, but are they ok to use in Commercial RENDERS?

Thanks!

Cheers,
Alisa

I thought the part of comercial product would cover the promotinal renders too, Think I may change that to make it a bit clearer, I have no issue with them being using in Promo images as long as I am credited and a link put to my site :)

Have updated the information, hopefully that should make it a bit clearer on what they can and cant be used for :D

Alisa ( ) posted Tue, 04 February 2014 at 6:52 PM

I didn't explain what I was asking, sorry - not talking about Promo images - this is the type of commercial renders I mean:

Example 1- say I get hired to create an in image that will be used in an ad for a car.  In the image, I have a figure wearing a dress, and that dress uses your lace shader.  It's not a situation where one could really put a link to someone's site.

Example 2 -same type of image, but used in a contest where you would be eligible to win a cash prize.

Is that type of use ok?  Just want to be sure, for possible future use, what you're ok with :)

Thanks!

Cheers,
Alisa

In example 1 - then it would be a no

In example 2 - not sure now, if you were willing to split the cash prize maybe :)

I have only just woken up and need coffee to get the system going, will have a think about it and get back to you

No worries - I don't have any specific plans but I like to label things so I know, just in case  ;)

okay, after speaking with a few people this is what I have come up with, based on their advise

These shaders are provided free of charge for use in ANY PERSONAL RENDER, they are NOT to be used in or given away in ANY COMMERCIAL product in anyway, be it for yourself (own product) or a 3rd party (product and or promotion), they are not allowed to be used in part full, or any fraction thereof in a MERCHANT resource, on the front of a magazine, and/or freebie disc, DVD or any electronic means known or unknown.

What this means is that you are free to use them for any personal render you do, if you wish to enter it in a compition where money many be won, that isn't classed as commerical and you are free to use them in that.

Hope this has cleared things up for you

Not sure how Hivewire do it, but I am new to this, and this is the way I think I should go based on the advise I have been given :)

It's not a matter of how any other person or place does it - it's your work, and you get to decide what to allow. ;)

Just a few suggested changes based on what you said the terms were, that may make it even clearer -

"These shaders are provided free of charge for use in ANY PERSONAL RENDER.  They are NOT to be used in or given away in ANY COMMERCIAL product in any way, be it for yourself (own product) or a 3rd party (product and or promotion), including as part of a Commercial Render.  They are not allowed to be used in part, full, or any fraction thereof, in a MERCHANT resource, on the front of a magazine and/or freebie disc, DVD, or any electronic means known or unknown.  They MAY be used as part of a render for a contest or competition where prizes are given."

Thanks for the clarification :)

Cheers,
Alisa
